Drunk
After completing the manifesto tour in the US, all the members had a week to rest since they had been working really hard on all of their concerts. All of them were given individual rooms in a luxurious hotel to relax.
Jake Sim was just chilling in his room when he heard a knock on his door. He got up from his bed and went to open the door, expecting one of the members, but not Heeseung. This was the time when Heeseung played video games and liked to spend some alone time before going to bed.
But to his surprise, Heeseung was standing there, properly dressed, with his head hanging low. Suddenly, Heeseung stepped inside and put his head on Jake's shoulder. Jake balanced himself from stumbling back.
Both of Heeseung's hands were at his sides, wanting to hold Jake but not having the strength at all.
Hee was reeking of alcohol, and Jake could clearly smell how strong it was. He knew something was definitely not right.
Jake had never been in a situation like this, so he was confused about what to do. "Hyung, what happened?" he asked with the most concerned voice.
Jake started patting Hee with one hand and closed the door with the other. They stood in the middle of the room, and the atmosphere became really heavy.
Jake was very worried, and his concern grew when he heard Hee sniffling. "Hyung, what's wrong? Let's sit first... I'll bring you wat-" he stopped when Heeseung wrapped both of his arms around him, stopping him from doing anything.
Slowly, Hee's sniffling turned into sobbing. "Hyung, you are scaring me right now. What in the hell happened?"
After a few minutes of silence, Jake spoke again, his hand continuously caressing Hee's back. "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it. Just calm down... okay?"
Jake then guided Heeseung to his bed and made him sit. He then handed him a glass of water, but Heeseung denied it.
Jake knelt down to have a proper look at Hee's face. Hee's eyes and nose were completely red. He must have been crying even before he came to Jake's room.
Heeseung was clearly not in good shape.
After having a proper look at Hee's face, Jake hugged him tightly. He stopped asking questions because he didn't want to make Hee uncomfortable. Jake didn't want Hee to leave.
This time Heeseung reciprocated Jake's action. This situation was breaking Jake's heart because he didn't know how to help the elder. He was wishing that this was all just because of some stress and nothing else.
He didn't know the matter, but he had never seen the older this vulnerable.
"I am going crazy," suddenly Heeseung started speaking. "Hyung, it's okay," Jake tried to comfort him. "Do you know how much you affect me? I feel like I am becoming a lunatic day by day. I don't have any idea... why I am acting so stupid. Everything is becoming so complicated that sometimes I am scared of myself."
Heeseung's sobs became louder. "Hyung, I am sorry. I am sorry if I did something wrong. I would never want to hurt you."
"You did nothing wrong. Nothing is your fault. It's all me. I am the one who is dirty. It is me who is disgusting," Jake tightened his hug, tears started falling from his eyes too.
"Hyung, don't say such things. Don't be so hard on yourself. Even if it's not my fault, you can blame me. If you are hurt, just let it all out. Don't keep it to yourself. I am here for you-"
"Stop it," Heeseung's voice was louder than before. "Please stop it," Heeseung begged.
Jake let go of his hug and watched the older's face in disbelief. Hee's words were really confusing and hurtful at the same time.
"Don't make me feel worse about myself. I am not brave enough to tell you anything. You will hate me if I tell you my true thoughts. You will find me disgusting and will leave me forever."
Just how much did he drink, Jake thought to himself because Hee is clearly not acting like himself. He knows that the elder is going to regret everything in the morning after coming back to his proper senses.
"What are you talking about? You know that me leaving you is not possible. Why would I ever leave you or the group like that?"
That's right. Jake will not leave him, but that is because of Enhypen and Engene, not because of Heeseung himself. At this point, the alcohol is distorting Heeseung's thought process.
"Please don't leave me, Jake, even after the contract is over." Jake shuts Hee's mouth with his hand. "Believe me, hyung, I will never leave, nor would I ever be disgusted by you."
"Even after I do anything stupid or say anything weird?" Hee asked.
"Yup," Jake says confidently. "Now go and wash up first, then we will talk. It's already past midnight."
"But I don't want to," is what Heeseung says. He is so drunk that he cannot even balance himself. He is almost half unconscious.
Hee is acting all clingy and emotional. At this point, Jake has concluded that Heeseung became sensitive after drinking too much alcohol and must have overthought about not performing well and disbanding after the contract ends.
But why would he even think like that? He knows that everyone is going to renew their contract anyway. Also, it's only been two and a half years since their debut. They have a long way to go.
Hee is the type to overthink literally anything. Jake helps him to lie down on the king-sized bed. The members often share rooms, so it's not a big deal for them. Jake then takes off Hee's shoes and covers him with a blanket.
They will talk in the morning. As soon as Jake stands up from Hee's side, the older grabs his hand. "I love you, Jake," Heeseung says in a low voice with his eyes shut. "I love you too, hyun-"
"I really do. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I have no control over my heart. Please don't hate me for that." After saying that, Heeseung passes out.
The last line made Jake rethink the whole conversation they had just had.
"Do you know how much you affect me?"
"Nothing is your fault. It's all me."
"If I tell you my true thoughts, you will find me disgusting and will leave me forever."
Heeseung's words clouded Jake's mind. Now he knows why the older drank so much, but he still wishes that what he is thinking is not true.
