(Y/n) stared at her wheel spinning in front of her, today she was starting a new project but there was something on her mind bothering her.
Pain.
Today, her heart was broken. She felt a throbbing pain in her chest as she tried to recall how it all happened. All she remembered was waking up and looking at Semi's text that he wanted to break it off. There was no call, he didn't bother to even meet up so he could tell her in person, it was just a plain black and white text. She wondered what she could've done, did she upset him in some way? Or was he just bored of her now? Semi and (Y/n) had been going strong, they were together through their last two years of high school and another two after graduating. It confused her how he just dropped everything they had built together, they were visibly happy and sure they had their problems but nothing so severe that it could cause this.
She sighed and turned off the wheel causing it to slowly stop spinning. She didn't feel like working today, much less starting a new project. Her parents were out of town and were going to be out of town for about three months and had asked (Y/n) to watch after the shop which she joyfully agreed to considering she loved ceramics but all that love had been sucked dry by Semi. Since her parents weren't around she decided it would be best to just close up shop for the day. Heartbreak may not be a reasonable cause but it was if it was affecting her job.
(Y/n) cleaned up her slight mess she had made and put all the tools she had previously taken out before opening. She made sure to also email any students that had to come in for class today and also made sure to let her parents know she was closing the store to which they responded with a cheerful okay. It made her a little happy that her parents weren't ones to pry her open about why she was closing shop for the day because she knew they would come back to comfort her and what she needed right now was some space. Once she finished what was needed, she gathered her things and closed up the store. It was barely nine in the morning and she already had so much on her shoulders.
Beside her, Sugawara was opening up the café. Exhausted, he yawned and looked towards (Y/n)'s way as she locked up. He smiled and cleared his throat trying to get her attention as he had never seen (Y/n) opening up shop, it was always two older folks.
"Hi there! I'm Sugawara!" he said cheerfully, he may have been tired but he was always happy to make conversation with others.
(Y/n) turned to face him and smiled slightly, "Oh- hi." she mumbled.
Awkwardly they stood facing each other before Sugawara finally spoke up, "S-So, you must be (L/n)'s daughter right? I see them every morning when I open, I'm assuming they're on their trip already."
She nodded, "Yeah, um, they asked if I could watch over the shop while they were gone. Are you the one that gives them free coffee in the morning?" she questioned curiously.
Sugawara chuckled, "Yeah! That's me, your parents are wonderful people and they have always been kind to me every time I stumble across them so I just wanted to return their kindness."
(Y/n) smiled, it made her happy that her parents were being treated with kindness by a stranger. It also made sense why they rejected her offer for coffee in the morning, "Ah, well thank you for that but yes they're on their trip already but I'm actually just closing up for the day..." she said, mumbling the last part.
"Oh no, are you sick?" Sugawara asked, worried.
(Y/n) chuckled softly, "Yeah, I guess you could say that..." she mumbled.
"Oh well I should let you go then, hope you get better!" Sugawara said not wanting to waste anymore of her time.
(Y/n) thanked him sheepishly and started to make her way home. Again, she was happy her parents made friends with such a kind stranger, well a stranger to her for now. It distracted her from the fact that she would eventually have to accept that she was still heart broken. As she made her way home she made a stop by the convenience store to buy some ice cream and other snacks to eat her sorrows away.
