I woke up to the sound of the birds chirping outside Technoblade's cabin. It had been several weeks since I came to live with him, and I had grown used to the peaceful life in the tundra. Yet I had been worried about Phil, I had not seen him since he left and I needed to talk to him about Wilbur.

I got up from the couch and walked out of the cabin to find Technoblade taking care of Carl, "Good morning, Thanatos," he said, not looking up from the horse as he stroked the horses head.

"Good morning, Technoblade. I was wondering if I could ask you a question" I said, trying to sound casual.

"Heh?" he replied, waiting for me to speak without turning around. He had a brush in his hand, and Carl seemed happy. I wish I could've made Carl happy, he still didn't trust me.

"Do you know where Phil is? I have some stuff I need to talk to him about." I said, trying to keep a tone of curiosity, Technoblade had no idea about my role in society, and I didn't want the truth to get out.

What would happen if everyone knew what I did?

"He's in L'Manburg, helping with the rebuilding efforts after it was blown up. What do you need to talk to him about?" Technoblade finally turned around from the horse.

I paused, he'd question me more if I told him the truth, yet I could lose the progress I made with getting closer to him. Technoblade was a very untrusting man, it took a lot to get through his walls, and I had made some progress, but not much.

"I need to talk to him about his son." I said, not going any further. It was a private thing,

Technoblade paused, staring at me before asking, "You knew Wilbur?"

I opened my mouth before closing it, did he know the man? Did he deserve to know too? What was his relationship with Wilbur? How would he react if I-

Calm down, talk to Phil, that's the goal.

"Not for long, I have a message for him that he wanted Phil to know before he died." I said. Not a total lie, I just didn't specify when I got the message.

Technoblade quirked an eye at me, before turning back to Carl, "I see. L'Manburg, is far from here, and the journey is a couple of days out. You were unconscious so I don't suppose you know the way there?"

It was a change of topic, should I have told him the truth? Could I trust him? He had been, nice, over the time I've spent here.

"If I could get a compass then I could probably make my way, would it be too much to ask you to accompany me?" I asked hesitantly.

He froze, his posture rigid as he turned back to me, "Can't" he muttered, "I did spawn withers, the citizens probably aren't going to welcome me with open arms."

Oh, I forgot about that. In all of the chaos I hadn't even paid attention to the summoning, or much of the battle.

I stuck a hand up to my shoulder, not too long ago there was an arrow sticking out of it. Phil said he had to use some health potions to get it to be useable again. I swear if I saw that kid again then he'd regret it.

I nodded and Technoblade continued to talk, "I can give you the coordinates, I trust you won't get yourself killed. Wait, do you even know how to use a sword?" He questioned and I shrugged, I never had the need to learn sword fighting before.

He shook his head, sighed, and crossed his arms. His mouth was formed into a line under his mask and he looked at me like I was a toddler who had just gotten paint on the walls.

He just shook his head again, "Once you get back I'm teaching you how to fight. There's a compass in the chest and I'll give you a lodestone one so you can find your way back. It will be nice staying at home without someone clambering around."

I just stared, even with the humor, it wasn't something I expected from Technoblade, he was just, letting me leave? Offering to train me? Without questioning, without anything, just like that?

I watched as he went back to brushing Carl, "I never said I couldn't fight, just that I didn't know how to use a sword." I said crossing my hands, did he really have no faith in me?

Technoblade kept his gaze on Carl, "You can't use a sword, anyone who knows how to fight can use basic sword techniques."

I fell silent, opting to change the subject, I'd argue with him more when I got back. "You'll let me leave, just like that? How do you know I won't betray you or something?"

Technoblade turned around once more, his mouth curved into a small frown, "Phil put his trust in you, and I trust him. He is one of my oldest friends. If you break any of our trust, I will hunt you down til the end of your days and make you regret it."

At the end of his statement, he rested a hand on his sheathed blade. Betrayal. Must be something he dealt with a lot, being so powerful and feared.

I nodded to him and turned back to the house, "Thank you, Technoblade. I promise your trust will not be proven to be wrong" I said, before turning and walking back into the cabin to prepare for my journey.

Before the door shut though, I heard Technoblade speak out, "Call me Techno."
