As I packed my bag, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I had never been to L'Manburg before, and I didn't know what to expect. But I had to talk to Phil. I had to help him, even if it was just in a small way.
However, reaching the city was no easy task. L'Manburg was situated across the sea, and my journey would be a lengthy one, spanning several days.
Technoblade gave me a slip of paper attached to a lodestone compass. The compass was enchanted to lead to his cabin. He mentioned that Phil had been given one too. The piece of paper has some coordinates written on it, and I assumed this was the address to L'Manburg.
All I had to do was follow the coordinates using the compass, and boat across the ocean, how hard could it be?
I sent a message to Phil using a crow that he probably used to spy on us, warning him of my journey. The bird would hopefully arrive in time for Phil to be ready. All I mentioned was that I was coming to visit him, and that I had some important news.
With a determined spirit, I set off from Techno's cabin, bidding farewell to my newfound friend. He offered me his best wishes, cautioning me to be careful in my travels. Armed with his advice and carrying a small bag filled with provisions, I made my way towards the snowy coast.
I spotted a blue person with a yellow sweater in the distance but I ignored them, I had one mission right now to focus on.
As I arrived at the snowy coast, I gazed upon the vast expanse of the sea. The salty breeze hit my face, filling my nose with the scent of fish. It carried a sense of excitement and adventure. I was doing this, I was going to go and visit Phil, in L'Manburg, where there were two final deaths the last time I went. Exciting.
I placed down a boat and got in, it was going to take a lot of rowing to get there. The boat was big enough for two people to sit comfortably, so I had enough space. I pushed off of the shore, and started my journey.
As I embarked on the passage to L'Manburg, the boat floated on the gentle waves, gliding towards the distant horizon. Hours passed as I rowed, and rowed, and rowed more. I only took a break to eat a snack, or make sure that I was staying on course.
During the journey, I found peace in the vastness of the ocean. The endless blue expanse seemed to mirror the sky, an infinite view of blue. The rhythmic sound of the waves and the solitude of the open sea allowed my mind to wander, reflecting on the past and contemplating the future.
At night, I set down an anchor made of a heavy rock tied to a rope, attached to the side of the boat. I didn't want to drift off course and I needed some rest after all of the rowing. I sat against the back of the boat, there was enough space so I could stretch my legs and I made sure to check the compass.
What I would give for wings such as Phil's.
I would found myself gazing at the constellations, all of the other stars and planets out there. What was it like, the nether, the overworld, or even the end? There were infinite possibilities out there, and yet there were infinite possibilities here as well.
I found myself drifting off into the realm of sleep, thanking the gods that I didn't get nauseous on the sea.
Days turned into nights, and nights into days. The routine of infinite rowing settled in. I was extremely bored. I ate some provisions and ended up humming the tune that Wilbur had been singing the day I visited him.
Would it be easier to change forms and float over? Probably, yet using my powers for non-reaper reasons made me extremely tired. There was a sort of, thrill that I got from collecting souls, and without it, my job would bring much less excitement.
I found solace in the routine of life at sea. Mornings were greeted with a breathtaking sunrise, casting hues of gold and pink across the horizon. I'd eat a bit, try my best at catching a fish but ultimately failing.
During the afternoons, I would be alone with my thoughts, creating stories in my mind or thinking of the people I knew. Phil, my oldest friend, I could do something, I could help him. Of Technoblade, a deep feeling of worry encased me. I knew nothing would happen, he was all powerful, the legends and the wars weren't right. He was just a person, a person with giant walls keeping him from others, but I'd learned about his interest in Greek mythology, the way his dark him out made him chuckle.
The evenings were spent stargazing, marveling at constellations that painted the night sky like celestial gods. There was a night spent fighting off some drowned, brainless creature that only craved violence.
As the days melted into one another, the anticipation of reaching L'Manburg grew stronger. I have to admit my traveling was a bit out of nowhere, yet it was necessary.
After we got the house back to having its necessary supplies, Technoblade had spent more and more time away from the cabin, only to come back smelling like ash.
After days of traveling, I finally got the view of a dock. It was L'Manburg. The city was in construction, new buildings and scaffolding in placement. As I got closer, I could hear signs of life. People cheering and shouting. People were rebuilding, there was a sense of hope in the air.
