Captain Shoto POV
The sun has set, and people are starting to pack up their things as they are about to go home to their families.
I am currently changing my clothes to prepare dinner with the Bakugo family. As I was about to place my hat on my head, I heard a light bang on the door. “Come in,” I said as I put on my hat.
“Captain, a carriage is waiting for you,” Denki, the boatswain, said with a sleepy tone. I nodded in response and he left.
I left my room (and also my office), and went to the deck. The scent of salt air greeted me. I climbed down to the wooden plank that connects the boat and the wooden (mamaya edit mo).
”Captain Shoto, this way,“ a man with a white polo and black slack bow as he greeted me. He leads the way towards the wooden carriage.
He opened the wooden carriage door and gestured for me to enter. I entered the carriage and sat. I looked outside the window and saw how the little town brighten up their night. I didn't expect that after the day stall, there would be a night market.
Well, the Winneka Isle might be small, but it attracts many tourists and traders because of its high-quality raw material. Plus points because even if the island is rich with it, the security of the island is very high, so the crime rate here is low.
After what seemed to be an hour, we arrived at the Bakugo's Manor. ”Ah, Captain Shoto, welcome to our home. Make yourself feel at home,“ Chief Masaru said with the brightest smile. I looked up to the manor, 'Home? More like a mansion.'. A tall curly blonde woman with piercing red eyes and a boy with also the same feature as the woman (but looks like he was disinterested because his eyebrow was furrowing) was standing beside Chief Masaru. He noticed that I was looking at the people beside him and said, ”This is my wife, Mitsuki Bakugo and my son Katsuki Bakugo.“.
I sly smile at them and replied, ”It's nice meeting the two of you.“.
”Aren't you too young to be a Captain?“ Mrs Mitsuki looked at me from the bottom to the top. ”Yes, yes, I am,” I replied. She looked at his son and smacked his head which shocked me a little. ”Be more ambitious like this young fellow right here,“ she said as she pointed at me. The young man looked annoyed and replied, ”I want to be a hero!“. Mrs Mitsuki smacked his head again, ”Be more realistic!”.
Chief Masaru clapped his hand, ”Let's head inside.”.
We entered the manor and the smell of lavender fragrant was all over the room.
We headed to the dining room and Chief Masaru insisted that I sit in the middle chair. I sat and a maid placed a towel over my lap. The maid set the table and placed the food.
”After eating, we may discuss what you came for at my office, Captain Shoto,” Chief Masaru said.
—
After dinner, Chief Masaru leads the way to his office. As he sat in his chair he grabbed something from his drawer.
He placed a piece of paper on his desk. As I analyze the paper, I saw a drawing.
I grabbed the paper and I was amused at what I am looking for.
”It is a sketch of the mermaid that the little lad saw at the beach,“ he explained.
A half-man and half-fish with curly hair and wide eyes.
”Fascinating,“ I murmured as I gazed at the sketch.
”I hired an artist to sketch what the little lad saw that night. I don't know if it is accurate since I didn't see it, but I hope it is what you want to see,“ he said. ”You can have the sketch if you want,“ he added.
”It is what I want to see, thank you, Chief Masaru,“ I gratefully said and still fixated on the drawing.
”Though... Some citizen of the island has been hearing an alluring melody for the past few days. Some are afraid to fill up their curiosity and some are not. As far as I am concerned, there's no report of a missing person, and I hope we don't receive some,” he stated.
“Well, my crew and I will stay here for a little while if you don't mind,” I said.
“It will be an honour for you to stay here, Captain Shoto,” he smiled and stood up to bow. ”Don't worry, we won't make any ruckus while we are here,” I replied with assurance.
'But for now... I'll focus on what I came for.'
