AFTER 1 MONTH

CAPTAIN SHOTO'S POV

The sun hung low on the horizon as we approached the secluded shores of Winneka Isle. It had been a month since we set sail on our quest to find the mermaid, and anticipation coursed through my veins. The legends spoke of its enchanting presence and emerald hair that matched the depths of the sea. I couldn't help but dream of the moment I would finally set eyes upon it.

As our ship anchored near the pristine beach, a sense of excitement rippled through the crew. We had heard whispers of mermaid sightings in these waters, and hope stirred within our hearts. Eagerly, I stepped onto the sandy shore, scanning the surroundings for any signs of the mythical creature.

And then, as if by some magical intervention, I saw it—a mermaid with vibrant green hair, gracefully emerging from the water's embrace. My breath caught in my throat, and my heart leaped with a mixture of awe and anticipation.

'The mermaid I had yearned to meet!'

With a mixture of trepidation and excitement, I approached it cautiously, the sand soft beneath my feet. Their eyes, filled with a curious sparkle, met mine, and a shy smile graced its lips. It felt as though time stood still, the world around us fading into insignificance.

I reached out a hand, longing to touch its ethereal beauty. But just as our fingertips were about to meet, a sudden jolt of energy coursed through me, and everything blurred. Reality shattered like fragile glass, and I found myself engulfed in darkness.

My eyes flew open, and I gasped for breath. It took me a moment to realize that I was back on my room, drenched in sweat, the sound of the waves crashing against the hull echoing in my ears. It had been a dream—a mere figment of my imagination.

Disappointment and a profound longing washed over me, threatening to drown my spirits. The encounter with the mermaid, the glimpse of hope I had experienced—it had all been a mirage, a cruel trick played by my subconscious. The reality of it weighed heavily upon me.

I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. The dream had felt so vivid, so tangible. Yet, as I surveyed my surroundings, the truth was undeniable. The mermaid remained as elusive as ever, slipping through my fingers like grains of sand.

But I refused to let despair overtake me. I knew that dreams held power, and this dream, however fleeting, had reignited the fire within me. The dream may have been an illusion, but it had given me a glimpse of what could be—a tantalizing possibility that I would not let slip away.

I sighed, as I was about to sleep again, I heard a soft knock on the door. I looked outside the window and saw it is still dark outside. I opened the door and saw (Y/n) holding a pendant on a gold chain. I raised my eyebrow with confusion, as I stared at the wee lad/lassie.

"How may I help you?" I asked, she just held up the necklace to me and didn't even bother replying. I knelt down to their level and said, "Little (Y/n), it's still night, you should get some more sleep.".

(Y/n) placed the necklace on the floor, then ran towards the opposite direction. I picked up the necklace with confusion. I sighed and murmur,"I'll just ask a jeweller on the town tomorrow.".
