I don't know how the tags work, but damn am I shocked.
Anyways, )

Short summary : Stanley was dehydrated and also starving. Thankfully, he had gotten himself a stable source of water and soon enough, he would find himself back on track again, with a someone he realised he belonged with.

(I hope you all have fun reading between the lines and crafting a stanarrator manifestation in your heads. Well, if you want to. I am writing this with the pure platonic ideas (trust me) but who am I to stop you believing otherwise?

Enjoy the first fluff chapter in this book.)

Stanley slumped wherever his legs would take him. He made it back across the street over to a corner shop, where he knew he couldn't buy anything with the sad 2 pence coin he had picked up earlier.
What else was he going to do?
Surely maybe he could bargain for something, or maybe even get away with stealing..?
He knew it wasn't a good thing to do but Stanley presumed it may be reasonable, considering he was going to die of thirst soon.

He wondered if he could have drank the rainwater the day prior.

Surprisingly, the store wasn't completely empty. Upon entering, a rather grumpy looking man with a leather jacket gave Stanley an intense, suspecting glare which stayed on him until he awkwardly waved back. Only then did the man slowly turn back to the counter where no one stood at that moment.

Stanley stiffened and almost started sweating bullets. Maybe he wouldn't be stealing anything today.
This entire thing had just put him off committing a crime.

During his walk around the corner store, he examined many different products, which all varied in colour- containing the boldest headlines and titles. He eyed the drinks and could only wonder what they tasted like, being unable to actually buy them.
Maybe he should have drank the rainwater.

He hadn't kept track of how long he had spent going around the small shop over and over unconsciously. That is until a woman came up to him and asked if he needed help with anything. Stanley froze up.
Should he have told her he wanted something but had no money? Or should he have said that he didn't need help?

He pointed over to a bottle of water and looked at her. She seemed slightly confused but then asked if he wanted to bring it over to the counter.
And after a few moments of Stanley fiddling for something in his pocket in silence, he pulled out the bronze 2 pence coin and held it out to her.

"Ok...?" She said, dragging out the letters, "is that... is that all you have?"

Stanley glanced at the coin and back at her before nodding.

"We can't sell things to you without proper payment, I'm afraid. But if- uh- you do need water, there's a fountain nearby you can drink from."

This was his solution, the first time he had managed to get something from these people.
He nodded a few times rapidly, encouraging her on.

"It's just-" She pointed further to the right on the street, "There should be a bar nearby that way and you can go through the alley next to it. You should find a small drink fountain by the wall."

Stanley smiled and confusingly moved his hands around a bit before settling on giving her a simple thumbs up. Hopefully she'd understand that he was saying 'thanks'.
