Nico the Hostage

It seemed to be that Nico and I attended a new school every week, not that I minded the sudden changes. We faced even more problems school after school, so I really hoped our never-ending path of terror would end.

That was when Nico disappeared before lunch. Our fifth period class was English, one I excelled at. Using the manipulative powers I possessed, we altered the mist to force our teachers to sit us down next to each other in every class.

Nico was never the best at English, so I usually spent the period helping him with the material we studied.

That day, Nico didn't show up to class. Worry flooded my system, hoping he hadn't run away from school again. We'd only been at the new school for two days.

Even if he didn't admit it, he knew he was going to need an education to make it somewhere in life as a demigod.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, so I snuck a peak at the caller ID. The phone number wasn't familiar and didn't match Nico's, so I ignored the call.

For five straight minutes, my phone continuously rang. Shooting my hand up, the teacher called on me. "May I use the restroom?"

"Is it an emergency?" She cocked her eyebrow at me.

I nodded rapidly. "Yes, ma'am."

An exasperated sigh left her lips in reluctance. "Be back in five minutes, William. You may use the restroom."

Hurriedly, I rushed outside to take the call. "Who is this?"

"We have your boyfriend." A deep, mysterious voice acknowledged into the phone. "We demand $1,000,000."

Yeah, sure. You've contained my stubborn, sly boyfriend. He obviously won't escape when you least expect it.

At the commentary in my head, I scoffed. "What's his name? Who have you kidnapped?"

"Are you implying that you have more than one boyfriend?" The male barked at me. "That's cold."

"No, I'm simply making sure you've called the right person," I remarked. "It's completely unbelievable that you'd be able to contain my boyfriend."

"Nico Di Angelo is his name," The kidnapper responded eagerly. "We've got William Solace, don't we?"

Ignoring his last comment, I said, "Good Luck with that." Somehow, my finger hesitated to press the end-call button. If monsters were holding Nico captive, then I'd be ditching him if I hung up.

"What do you mean?" A second deep voice piped up. " 'Good luck with that'? Do you not care about your boyfriend?"

I laughed humorlessly. "You have no idea what he's capable of. Trust me, in a few minutes, you'll have no idea where he's at. And, I do care about my boyfriend. But I also trust him."

I heard a scowl on the other end. "Are you sure about that? He's not very stealthy or quick. I should know, he barely put up a fight when we kidnapped him."

"Here's the thing: You haven't seen him when I try to make him eat," I growled. "I'm assuming you don't believe me, but I advise that you should."

"Just pay the ransom."

"No way." I yawned. "Heed my warning. He's too powerful for you to keep under wraps."

"We'll keep him hidden until you pay." With that, the kidnapper hung up the phone. Checking my watch, I cursed quietly and rushed back to my English class.

"Sorry, Mx. Wheeler," I apologised while sitting back down in my seat. "I ran out of toilet paper and had to steal from someone else."

The entire class cringed, diverting my teacher's attention away from me.

After lunch had finished, I trailed down the hall to spot my lovely boyfriend. He walked simply down the hall holding his books, eyes planted on the floor as he walked.

"Nico!" I called through the hall, hoping to obtain his attention. It suddenly came to limelight that earbuds were in his ears, most likely blasting Eminem or something. "Neeks, over here!"

His chocolate eyes wearily looked up, popping out with contentment as we locked eyes. Taking out the earbuds, he paused the music on his phone. "I want to leave this town right now."

"You don't want to get kidnapped again?" I asked sarcastically. "No way, we should totally stay here."

"Yeah, sure," He snorted. "In all realness, that sucked. The kidnappers got so mad when you said 'Good luck with that'."

"Mhm, I thought so." Leaning down slightly, my lips connected with his. Warmth spread through my body as I situated my hands on his hips to draw him closer to me. His lips were tender and lovesome, fitting like a puzzle piece to mine. "I love you, Neeks. Never get kidnapped again."

He cracked a grin, pulling away to embrace me with open arms. "I love you too, sunshine."

A/N Idk but I think Nico would be such an Eminem fan for no reason.
