Zan's POV
Despite the fact that we constantly get inside each other's heads, we aren't as close to each other as humans are. We just don't innately form those bonds.
Many humans live with their parents for nearly twenty years at the beginning of their lives. Some live together for even longer. We don't. Most of us don't see the need. But I think that would be rather nice.
Thinking with Dash, I started caring about him. When I had to leave for good, I cried.
I had never done that before.
It certainly wasn't happy, but it was nice. Those emotions meant something. They took over, yet I would gladly surrender to them again and again if I could. But that would be suspicious.
I wish my planet's beings could feel love the way I have. That they could know how wonderful love is.
The leaders of my planet act as though they are afraid of us really connecting with each other. We are efficient and powerful, but at a certain point, we might as well just be robots. We have so much, but we could have so much more. We could have families. We could care for our offspring, not just push them off on their own.
This is one of the things humans have begun to get right, and we really ought to go ahead and learn from them. Even though much of my society views them as below us, that doesn't mean they don't have anything worth giving us, because they absolutely do. We can help them and they can help us. That's simply what we should all be doing. After all, we do share a universe.
