The Call

Ezra was wondering why it came to this him making trips to each persons station using his knife imbued with solar light to warm them up for a short amount of time "I've become glorified heater. How far have I fallen." The hunter said annoyed as he made his way back to the cockpit.

A little earlier...

Hera gave a sigh rubbing her hands together trying to get warm "Sabine, fuel status." She ordered as she shivered "point 05. We're almost down to fumes." She said grimly "sorry, guys. Have to divert more power from thermal subsystems. Reducing heat to two percent." Hera said shivering more "our intel on this fuel source better be solid. I'm losing feeling in my fingers." Kanan said over the comm "Saw the report myself. Somewhere in this belt, the Mining Guild's been refining clouzon-36 for the empire." Hera explained as Chopper handed Sabine a tablet making some chirping noises "whoa. One shipment of that stuff could fuel us and all the ships in Phoenix Squadron for a full cycle." Sabine said trying to ignore the feeling of the cold "empire is scheduled to pick up their shipment today. We just got to get there and find it first." Hera said with a determined look "the asteroid field is scrambling our sensors." Sabine said as Ezra snored lightly infront near the visual scanners "I'm getting nothing on the visual scanners." Sam said Sabine raised a brow "how is it he is able to sleep while it's this cold and not freeze to death?" Sabine asked clearly annoyed "well... it's because I set his subclass to Solar technically he is not feeling the cold." Sam answered making Sabine raise a brow "couldn't he use his powers to warm us up, since you know it's as warm as a sun?" Sabine asked making the ghost nod "we could do that." His ghost said knocking the hunter on the head "wake up Ezzy you are needed." Sam said making the hunter turn his head groggily "what is it?" The hunter ask seeing the Pilot and Mando shiver from the cold, and just like that he understood sighing as he pulled out a knife he imbued it with enough solar light to light up the room with a slight orange glow.

Back to the present...

He climbed into Kanan's area the top turret "anything yet?" The hunter asked hanging off the ladder taking a seat on it, and holding the blade close to the Jedi "nothing, it feels like this astroid field is the abandoned." The Jedi said relaxing feeling the warmth of solar light, Ezra turned his head hearing a strange noise "you hear that?" The hunter asked Kanan shook his head "no, what do you hear?" The Jedi asked before it continued Ezra recognize the sound as wailing "there. The noise. I hear it. It's getting louder." Ezra said looking around from where he was seeing the void of space "I don't see anything out here. What's it sound like?" Kanan asked as his darted "it's hard to describe. It sounds like an animal wailing in sadness. Better question how do you not hear it? It's coming from all around us." Ezra said annoyed he was hearing this "Ezra, there's nothing to hear." Hera said over the open comm until he noticed something in the distance Kanan did as well "by the traveler." The hunter said looking ahead at the whale like creatures flying towards them "wow." The hunter stated as Hera came back over the comms "brace yourselves!" She said as the space whales passed causing turbulence in The Ghost "what the bloody blazes are those?" Zeb asked through the comm "purrgils. They'll rip the hull apart. Prepare to fire. We gotta drive them back." Hera explained Kanan shook his head "don't shoot! They'll pass. Just let 'em do what they do." He said looking at them "what they do is destroy starships like ours." Hera said in a sassy tone "we can't waste power fighting these things." Kanan said making the hunter shake his head "what choice do we have?" Hera asked annoyed "or we could just get out of their way." Sabine said in an obviously tone "we either run into them or the asteroids take your pick." Hera said "try flying with them instead of against them." Ezra said as he began climbing down the ladder to get to the cockpit "uh that's not a half-bad idea." He heard Sabine say as he entered "fine. I can't believe I'm doing this." Hera said as the heat from the hunter's solar energy warmed them "it's not the strangest thing we've ever done." Kanan said "yeah, that doesn't make me feel better." Hera said as she powered up the engine and navigated so she was in formation with the Purrgils the hunter raised a brow "I-I think they're calming down. I'm not hearing those wails anymore." The hunter explained "good instinct Ezra, how did you know?" Kanan asked the hunter shrugged "seemed like the right thing to do." Ezra said looking back "ok, we're low on fuel, surrounded by asteroids and caught in a swarm of Purrgil. How has the situation improved exactly?" Hera asked as they stayed in the formation "hello? Are we shooting them or not? 'Cause here comes a really big one." Zeb informed as the giant flew near the window "wow. These creatures are amazing. Who would want to shoot them?" Sam asked moving away from the console she was watching and scanning them through the glass "Hera, if you gave her the chance." Kanan replied as Ezra stepped closer to the glass "Kanan, you don't know what you're talking about. I do." The pilot said with an annoyed look on her face "well, since I'm so uneducated why don't you explain your problem?" The jedi asked causing the hunter to roll his eyes "these creatures are a menace. A big, lumbering menace." Hera explained as Ezra reached his hand out trying to connect with the creatures he noticed something wrong with the purrgil "uh, something's upsetting it." The hunter explained with a worried look "maybe it's Hera." Zeb said as the creature lifted with a wailing noise "no it's not Hera. TIE fighters. Two of 'em. I need a better angle." Kanan said the pilot gained a focused look "hang on!" She exclaimed powering up the engines and lifting at an angle so Kanan could get the shot he fired taking out one as the other flew past The Ghost giving the four in the cockpit a better look "those TIEs have been modified. They're not Imperial." Sabine informed "well, they're acting like it." Kanan said as the TIE turned around ready to fire on the ship the hunter jumped down to the controls for the front gun "I've got him, I've got him." He said before alarms starting blaring "sonofa! Hera lost power over on the cannons!" The hunter shouted "rerouting auxiliary power from the Phantom." She said as Ezra waited for his systems to be up the TIE began firing "Hera!" The hunter shouted once again as it came closer pressing the firing sticks until it came online shooting it down the hunter sighed in relief "oh see. If we shot at the Purrgil, we wouldn't have had..." Kanan said as the comm turned off Hera probably didn't want to hear it "those fighters were Mining Guild." Sabine explained with a smirk "they must be from the refinery. Think you can track where they came from?" Hera asked Sabine shrugged looking back at her side of the controls "maybe. Give me a minute." The mando said as she made the calculations.
