Alive and Well

Chapter 6

I leaned against the balcony railing watching the sun rise hit the fresh morning dew. After what happened I couldn't fall asleep I was too worried that they would track us down.

I normally have Rhys up an hour after the sun hits the horizon, but after all of that I'll let him rest.

Damien and the guards have been torturing the wolf from last night. I asked Damien to give me an answer once he broke, but I haven't heard a thing.

I took a deep breathe of the morning air, the anticipation of waiting on an answer is killing me. I pushed myself off the railing and started my way towards them.

That stupid wolf isn't going to say a thing. I walk down to the torture chambers of the pack house. Though wolves have great hearing we sound proof the torture chambers to keep pack dealings discret if necessary. I make it to the first door. I finally could hear the screams of this wolf. He needed to be dealt with after attacking me and my son.

I walk in and head straight for the room Damien and the wolf is in. Two guards kept watch over the door. I go to reach for the handle and the two guards blocked me.

"I would like to go in!" I said with a demanding tone.

"Alphas order are to let NO one in except himself. You will have to leave or wait here if you are wishing to speak with Alpha Damien." Said the guard to the right.

"But I caught this guy. I should be able to enter the room!" This was infuriating me. It could be because I also want to see the look of fear on his face that I wanted in so badly.

"Alphas orders no one except him is allowed in. You will have to wait!" Said the guard on the left.

"Ughh... fine I'll sit right here until he comes out." I said while plopping myself right in front of the door.

Not long after Damien walks out wiping away the blood from his claws.

"Valen... what are you doing down here?" Said Damien giving me a concerned look.

" I need an answer!" I said

"He hasn't broken yet. You already know that it will take a while before we get an answer from him. I understand you are upset, but if I let you in I don't know if you will hold your emotions back. I would believed before that you would, but your worry for your son may cause you to lose control. You know as well as I do that we need him alive if we ever want to get an answer...ok?!" Damien said placing a hand on my shoulder.

I hate it when he is right. I only want in to see him suffer and he knew that.

"Ok... just please tell me as soon as you get one!" I pleaded

"You know that I will Valen. Come on let's go eat breakfast you definitely need a distraction and food is always the best solution."

Damien pulls me into a side hug while walking us back up out of the torture room.

A few weeks had passed. The wolf ended up spilling he was there to capture Rhys, but never mentioned a name. He killed himselfed to keep that a secret. It's never ending in the cycle of greed and conquering. I never understood the want of always wanting more power, more sacrifices, and more harm to those around you. What does someone gain when they gain power? They gain nothing. Nothing, but more pain and sorrow. Guilt and regret fill those kind of people more, but just those emotions are what makes them also want more just so they can make it go away for just a few mintues.

I laid in the grass watching the stars. I cried a little. Rondni what am I gonna do. I'm only one person! How am I supposed to protect our son? How am I? How?
