Vineya

"They are beautiful Neytiri," I hummed to my older friend, as I stared down at Neteyam cuddled in my arm as he giggled reaching to play with my the few braids that had fallen over my shoulder.
I spared a glance at Kiri smiling at her she already bared such a resemblance to our old teacher, I reached towards her to touch her face with my spare hand.

"One day you'll have your own Vineya," Neytiri gave her a smile and I returned a soft giggle, sparkling my eyes at the thought of my own kin running around playing in the forest without the worry of war.
To Neytiri's demise I had found myself deciding I had a child as I took charge of caring for the young human boy, spider had been placed in my arms by one of the scientists while I was visiting the lab to check in on Grace. He was only just bigger then my hand so small and helpless in this world, his brown eyes stared widely at me before a coo tumbled out of his lips followed by a smile and I was taken to him, I decided that if no one would take care of this boy then I would.

"Be careful," I called to spider as he jumped into the water of the river bed joining the sully kids, I covered my lips with my hand giggling at his antics. I chose to ignore the look of distaste from Neytiri I already knew she didn't like how much he played with her kin and her hatred for skypeople did not pass as easily as mine and I understood why.

"He belongs with his own kind," I could hear her speak to Jake and I ignored her I did not wish to keep fighting over the same disagreement anymore, we had argued many times over spider, her distrust and hatred for humans.

I did not feel that it was justified to blame a child who did not know the horrors of war anymore than her own children. It was a time of peace, which I wished I could've enjoyed so much more but sadly it couldn't we had been told that a new star had appeared which once was a happy thing became a sign of dread and fear. It brought skypeople ones worse then before they brought anger of suns and burnt more forest and ground buildings that ripped apart our great mother.

"You are getting so big my boy," I grinned placing a hand on top of the blond head of dreads that now reached just above my hip. I kneeled down to his height placing my forehead against his mask before pulling away to see his smiling face,

"I'm just waiting for Loak and Neteyam to get back Ma."

"I know, never see you without Loak these days," I smiled down at him as I stood again.

"I'm heading out, would you like to join me?"

"I'm good thank you," he shook his head gesturing to the incoming Ikran.

"I'll see you tonight then, please try to stay out of trouble," I smiled before nodding and touching his hair one last time before making sure I had my daggers and my spear was comfortably strapped to my back for my walk ahead.

I sat cross legged on the ground of the forest occasionally wiggling my toes enjoying the feeling the softness of the dirt and flicking my ears to listen for anything outside the normal. I wove a new feather onto my necklace that also acted as my cover, it was made up of predominately red, yellow and green feathers.

I hadn't meant to take so long out as I had carried along taking moss, seeds and bark from trees. I had found the feather beside a Tìhawnuwll plant smiling as I plucked one of the fruits and placed it in my side satchel for spider to use later for his paint. Moving a long loose strand of black hair behind my ear, I made a mental note to re-tie my front braids that held the rest of my hair back.

After I had finished intertwining the feather into its new spot, I stood up. Grabbing my spear from the ground tossing it in my fingers to shake free any dirt that stuck to it, I had carved the spear myself as unlike the others I struggled to use a bow and I did not want to use the skypeople weapons, so the spear had become my weapon of choice whilst travelling.
