chapter five

When you finally arrive back at the shelter with Todoroki and the rest of the others in your group, you see Todoroki standing by the entrance, his gaze scanning the surrounding area. As soon as he spots you leading Midoriya's group, a mix of relief and pride washes over his face. Without a second thought, he rushes forward and envelopes you in a hug, his voice filled with genuine happiness.

"You found people!" he exclaims as his arms encircle you. "This is incredible, we've found more survivors. And a lot of them, too."

You can't help but smile, feeling a sense of accomplishment in his embrace. He never really seemed like a hug kind of guy, really. However, as Bakugou catches sight of the interaction, a mischievous smirk tugs at his lips. He clearly noticed something between you and Todoroki, and he isn't one to let things go unnoticed.

"How come you're so worked up?" you ask Todoroki. "Didn't the other groups bring back survivors?"

Clearing his throat, Todoroki steps back, realizing he might've overreacted at the sight of you. "No, you're the only one to find a group of people. We should probably welcome them in now." He then composes himself and then turns his attention to the newcomers, helping them settle into their new surroundings. Meanwhile, Bakugou slides up to you, a teasing glint in his eyes.

"Oh, what is it?" you grumble, rolling your eyes at him.

"It seems like you're pretty cozy with Captain Imperious, huh?" Bakugou asks in a voice held with a hint of amusement.

"Captain Imperious?" you scoff, feigning nonchalance, "Where'd you come up with that one? Don't make up shit, especially when you're still new. Besides, we're only working together for the greater good."

"The greater good?" he says with a smug grin on his face. "The world's fucking ending, Y/N. If you want to bang him, you should tell him that."

Once he's done talking, Bakugou struts off, eager to assist the newcomers and immerse himself in the tasks at hand. You watch him go, shaking your head at his antics. Deep down, though, you can't deny the slight flutter in your heart whenever Todoroki is around. But in these times, love needs to take a backseat to other challenges.

As time goes on, you and the rest of the group settle into your routines. Todoroki had devised a plan to make sure everyone had important tasks and responsibilities to ensure their survival and fortify their defenses.

You are in charge of the repair and construction team. Volunteers from Todoroki's group and Midoriya's group, now all mixed together, agreed to help you assess and repair the shelter, fortify defenses, construct additional structures if necessary, and ensure the safety of the living space.

Todoroki is in charge of the scavenging and exploration team, the group that ventures out into the surrounding area to scavenge for essential supplies, food, and water. They also explore nearby locations for potential additional shelters or resources. Todoroki's military training and resourcefulness make him a great leader, as you already knew he would be.

Midoriya, who informs you that he was a paramedic before the apocalypse, is in charge of the medical and first aid team. He helps provide medical assistance, with the help of some volunteers, treating injuries and illnesses, managing medical supplies, and ensuring the overall health and well-being of the community. His compassion and knowledge in medical care make him the perfect leader for this role.

Bakugou becomes the head of the community support and communication team which facilitates communication between Todoroki and Midoriya's respecting groups, organizing meetings, addressing concerns, and providing support and assistance to those in need. Bakugou's direct and assertive nature, coupled with his strong leadership skills, made him the perfect candidate for the position.

The leader of the resource management team goes to one of Midoriya's members whom he highly recommended: Uraraka Ochako. He had explained that she would be a valuable asset in organizing and storing provisions, so Todoroki agreed. Her group became in charge of managing and rationing the available resources, keeping track of inventory, and ensuring efficient utilization of supplies.

A week into your new assigned position, you make your way to the area where Uraraka has set up the supplies, a makeshift storage room filled with crates and boxes. She's carefully organizing the limited resources Todoroki's group has managed to scavenge in order to maximize efficiency. As you approach, she looks up, a tired but determined expression on her face.

"Hey, Y/N," she greets you with a small smile. "Checking the supplies, huh?"

You nod, glancing around at the neatly stacked provisions. "Yeah, just wanted to see how we're doing. But actually, I'm looking for some electrical wiring. I need it to fix the generator. Have you come across any recently?"

Uraraka's smile fades slightly as she shakes her head. "I'm sorry, Y/N. We're running low on electrical supplies, including wiring. We've been using them sparingly, but we might need to prioritize other essential items for now."

You sigh, feeling a mixture of frustration and urgency. The generator is crucial for providing power to the shelter, especially during the upcoming colder months. "Damn. Okay, I'll see if there's anything I can salvage or repurpose for now. We can't afford to let the generator fail. Thanks, Uraraka."

She nods sympathetically. "I wish I had better news for you, Y/N. If I come across any electrical in our next scavenging run, I'll let you know."

You appreciate her understanding and determination. "I appreciate it, Uraraka. Keep up the good work with managing the supplies. We'll figure something out."

After you leave the storage area, you make a mental note to search through the remaining equipment and machinery for any spare parts that could be repurposed. The need to fix the generator weighs heavily on your mind, knowing that the safety and comfort of your group depend on it. You're determined to find a solution, even if it means getting creative and resourceful in this unforgiving post-apocalyptic world.

As you walk out, you notice Todoroki in the midst of organizing the scavenged items from his latest expedition. As you walk up to him, you clear your throat to get his attention.

"Hey, Todoroki," you say, trying to keep your voice casual. "Do you think you could keep an eye out for some electrical wiring during your next run? We're running low and I need it for the repairs."

Todoroki nods, understanding the importance of the request. "Of course, Y/N. I'll make it a priority to search for electrical supplies."

"Thanks. That means a lot, Todoroki," you then smile at him.

As you turn to walk away, you catch Bakugou out of the corner of your eye. He's smirking mischievously and pretending to make exaggerated kissy faces at you and Todoroki. You roll your eyes and shake your head, not wanting to entertain his antics. You then continue on your way, hoping that Todoroki will be able to find the things that you need.
