chapter 7
Uraraka lies on a makeshift bed, her once vibrant spirit now overshadowed by illness. Her usually bright eyes are now dull and sunken, and beads of sweat cling to her forehead. The blankets barely manage to keep her trembling form warm. The room is filled with a sense of helplessness and concern as the other survivors gather around, their worry etched on their faces.
Uraraka's illness has manifested as a severe case of pneumonia, her weakened immune system succumbing to the harsh conditions of their post-apocalyptic world. Each breath she takes is labored, accompanied by a rattling cough that echoes through the room. Despite her weakened state, her determination to recover remains evident.
It's evident to you that the meager medical supplies in the shelter won't be enough to address Uraraka's worsening condition. The urgency of the situation hangs heavy in the air.
Your gaze lingers on Uraraka's struggling form, her heart heavy with concern. It's clear that immediate action is necessary to secure the necessary supplies that could make a difference in saving Uraraka's life. You kneel beside her bed and gently place a hand on her arm.
"Uraraka, how are you feeling?" you ask softly.
Uraraka manages a weak smile, her voice strained and breathless. "I've been better... It's hard to breathe... but I'll be okay."
Your brows furrow with worry, realizing the severity of Uraraka's condition. "We need to get you proper medical treatment, Uraraka. The supplies we have here aren't enough. We'll find a way to help you."
Uraraka's eyes flicker with gratitude, her voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you, Y/N."
You rise to your feet. "I'll gather the others and we'll find a way to get you the supplies you need."
Uraraka's weak grip tightens on your hand, offering a silent reassurance. "I believe in you, Y/N. Please, hurry."
With the weight of the situation pressing upon you, you decide to share the situation with Todoroki, Bakugou, and Midoriya. Gathering in a corner of the shelter, you discuss Uraraka's deteriorating condition and the scarcity of medical resources to provide proper care.
Todoroki, his voice calm and determined, breaks the silence. "We can't let Uraraka's condition worsen. It's clear that we need to find medical supplies to treat her effectively."
Bakugou, his brow furrowed with worry, nods in agreement. "Yeah, there's no way she's gonna get better with what we have here. We gotta do something."
"But going outside just means more risks for all the rest of us. Besides, we don't know what's out there. I want to help her, but I just don't know what to do," you remind them.
Midoriya, his eyes filled with empathy, speaks softly. "Y/N, I understand your concerns, but we have to take risks if we want to save Uraraka. We can't just stand by and watch her suffer."
You pause for a moment, considering their words. The fragile state of the world and the unknown dangers outside weigh heavily on your mind. However, the urgency of the situation and Uraraka's deteriorating health cannot be ignored.
"I'm just worried about what we might face out there," you admit, your voice tinged with apprehension. "But I can't let Uraraka suffer like this. So I agree, we need to find a way to get the supplies she needs, no matter the risks."
The four of you gather the rest of the group, faces filled with determination and urgency. You explain the critical situation with Uraraka's health and the desperate need for medical supplies. You stress that the journey ahead is uncertain, and you can't predict how long it will take.
Silence hangs in the air as you finish your plea, but no one volunteers. The fear of the unknown and the dangers outside the shelter hold them back.
Todoroki breaks the silence, "Why aren't any of you stepping forward? Uraraka's life is at stake here!"
"Because you're asking us to go out there and risk our own lives for a possibility for her!" a voice shouts from the crowd. A few others then chime in, expressing their fear of leaving the safety of the shelter. The uncertainty of what lies beyond the walls and the risks involved make them reluctant to embark on such a mission.
You look over at Bakugou who looks as though he's about to pop a blood vessel. His fists tighten as he looks out amongst the crowd.
"I understand your fears," you address them with a deep breath, "but if we don't act now, we risk losing Uraraka! We have to take this chance and find the supplies she needs. It's a risk we must take."
Bakugou steps forward, his tone defiant. "If no one else has the guts to do it, then I'll go. I ain't afraid of anything out there."
Todoroki stands beside him, his eyes filled with unwavering resolve. "I'll go too. We can't let Uraraka suffer any longer."
Their determined gazes turn to you, silently asking for your commitment. After a brief moment of contemplation, you nod, mustering your own determination. "Alright, I'll go with you. We'll face whatever challenges come our way together."
The crowd murmurs, a mix of worry and gratitude. "Please, bring back the supplies we need," someone says softly.
When the crowd disperses, you begin to gather the necessary supplies for your trip, ensuring that everyone is equipped with protective gear, maps, and essential tools for the journey.
As the group prepares, you emphasize the significance of planning and the gravity of the task ahead. "We need to approach this mission with caution and strategy," you remind them. "We have to be prepared for any obstacles we might encounter and work together to overcome them."
Todoroki adds, his gaze focused and serious, "We'll need to stay vigilant and support each other every step of the way. Our mission is not just for Uraraka but for the well-being of all the survivors here."
"This mission will show these idiots that they can't do shit without us," he declares, his voice laced with a hint of arrogance. "We'll come back with the supplies and make them realize just how much they rely on our skills and expertise."
You glance at Bakugou, a mix of annoyance and amusement in your eyes. "Don't get too carried away, Bakugou," you remark, a playful tone underlying your words. "We're a team, and our strength lies in our unity. Let's focus on bringing back the supplies and ensuring everyone's safety."
Bakugou grumbles under his breath but nods, acknowledging the truth in your statement. The team understands the significance of their cooperation and the need to work together to accomplish their goal.
