“Forget it, William. Even me, I want to forget it.”
It was funny that she took me in a grand hall. It was in 1362 when a ball had oc-curred in a place like this. Vampires were dressed in ball gowns and formal attires. I was seventeen back then and I didn’t know that it will be my last time to be seventeen. I danced with the girl I loved and everyone enjoyed the event as we celebrate the founda-tion of our beliefs.
So it would take a toll on me if I see a place like this again.
“Beautiful but dull.” Karen said.
I just nodded then she walked again. She headed to a door again but this time it was a single door rather than the grand ones we’d entered a while ago. This is the farthest one not the other one, I concluded but doesn’t matter since I assumed that this place is full of doors. I laughed at the thought as I entered. It was a small room, like a living room in a house.
“How’s Stella?” Karen asked, out of the blue.
“Don’t know.” I said wearily.
Then she halted which I will guess, scold me. “You left her alone? Are you crazy?!” Karen exclaimed, turning her whole body at me.
“She’ll be fine okay!”
“No, she will not. Leaving her alone is the worst thing you’ve ever done!”She said, pointing at me.
I reached into my pocket then I called my number. Stella answered but I hung up.
“She’s fine. She answered my call, okay? Now, can we move now?” I insisted, a little angry on her.
“Fine,” Karen turned her back, crossed arms. “But if something happened to her, you’re going to answer to them.” ‘Them’ means the Colloquium (or rather some of them because the others don’t know about it except Camilla and Aira)
“Whatever.”
Karen moved to the table, grabbed the chair and she sat. I sat across her and well…we waited.
After several minutes, Karen and I rose. Camilla entered, followed by Aira. Aira kissed her daughter and Camilla eyed me.
They know what happened and I don’t know how they found out about it.
“William,” Aira said, spreading her hands, welcoming me to an embrace. “It’s been a long time we’ve seen each other. How are you?”
I hugged her and step backwards, putting both hands at the back. “I’m fine. This won’t take long,” gesturing my hands on air. “I just need to tell you something impor-tant.”
“What is it?” Camilla was the one who answered, pretending they don’t know but I didn’t argue.
I took a deep breath then I narrated, “There were three Venalians after us a while ago. But I know for sure, they were after her since they know that I am a vampire and it would be not right if they will attack me because they will just be dead. Venalians don’t want to risk it and besides I’m not that important to them. They want her; I’ve seen it through their eyes. I killed them but I questioned one before I staked it. He won’t give me answers so I killed it right away. Now the problem is who could have sent them?”
“That’s a good question. Who could have sent those Venalians to stalk her? Wil-liam, let me ask you, where is she?” Camilla asked suddenly.
“I don’t know. I told her that she must go to a place where she feels safe. I called her a while ago,” pulling out the cell phone I stole. “And she answered.”
Aira went at Camilla’s side putting her hands on her shoulder. “Do you think Cal-ladean found out about her?”
“Impossible but maybe,” Karen was the one who answered. She went at the win-dow, stared at the city outside. “He could be out there, watching our every move. But he could not know about her since only four of us knew about the Hamilton siblings.”
“What’s Calladean look like? Even I lived for eight hundred years, I have never seen him.” I asked them so that when this Calladean guy came to us one day, I would know.
“No one knows. I haven’t seen him also. And Karen and Aira here haven’t seen him too.” Camilla confirmed then she turned to Karen. “Keep close with Martin, as you always do.” She was now giving us orders then she turned to me. “You’ve got to go to Stella. You promise me you wouldn’t tell her. Aira,” Camilla put her right arm on her waist. “We have to talk and this conversation will not leak out to the others. Especially Alfred, he has a huge grudge when it comes to the Von Trevora family.” Alfred Viniscus, one of the least people I would come close to. I was pleased that Camilla mentioned it. He really does have a grudge at the Von Trevora clan.
Von Trevora. It’s been a hundred years since I heard that name again.
Well, the truth is…the Colloquium disgrace that clan because she belongs to that family.
After the attack, she disappeared. Just like that. We haven’t seen her after that, even now. I still wonder if she’s still working with Calladean, though the trust she had given to that Venalian leader, paid all the consequences.
She was trapped, suffered from the attack and like us, cannot resurrect ever again.
Immortal like her best friend, Camilla
Immortal like me
Now, our mission―Camilla, Karen, Aira and me― is to bring the Von Trevora into the Colloquium and be able to recognize it once again.
As Camilla told me, Stella Hamilton is the key bringing the Von Trevora clan into the Colloquium once more.
Stella Hamilton is the heir of Von Trevora clan.
I don’t know how Camilla got to that conclusion but she told me that she’s part of the clan. Martin’s part of the clan too but Stella’s the most important.
I promised to myself that when Stella found out about her nature and accept it, I would tell her all of this.
And I mean it.
I shook my thoughts, focusing more on Camilla. “Don’t worry, Aira and I will do something about this. We will do our best to find as much as possible who could have sent them. Thank you and good night.”
“Karen, are you going back to school?” Aira asked her daughter all of a sudden.
I turned to say goodbye before I could even hear her response. I guess she will since she’s part of the Union and Martin might look for her.
I didn’t look back when I ran out of the grand hall, the library and the straight path. I was running out of time.
Karen’s right again. Leaving Stella alone was the worst thing I’ve done. I should not have done that. Even she’s like us, she was still unknowledgeable about her true na-ture.
I thanked the guards and they smiled at me as they bowed again. I hurried to my car, started the engine and hit the freeway.
As I was driving, I dialed my number and hoping she’ll answer again.
