- FORTY FEET -

"Harry! Harry put her down!" Liz heard Peter yell from behind them as he tried to keep up, but Harry reached a height in the sky that his webs couldn't reach.

His heartbeat skyrocketed the second Harry started towards Liz, and now he could feel it banging against his chest like it was begging for release.

"Harry, stop this right now! This isn't you, Harry! This is not you!" Peter yelled from his spot at the very top of the clock tower, after many attempts to connect a web to the hoverboard, but he was too high. "Harry, put her down!"

"Harry." Liz tried, the fear in her voice from the altitude they were at only made it sound pathetic.

"Harry is dead!" He yelled in her face, the girl wincing at the sound and wishing so badly that holding onto him wasn't her only option above falling.

"Harry, this is between you and me. You wanna fight? Fight me! Let her go!" Liz looked over his face for any sign of humanity left, but it was far too buried and she was left scared for her life.

Harry smiled, looking to Liz then down to Peter as his grip loosened. "Okay."

"No!" Peter shouted as Liz let out a scream and she was free falling towards him, her breath whisked from her lungs.

Peter swiftly jumped as high as he could to hopefully make the impact of her fall less painful. But once she collided with his chest and his arms wrapped around her, they both crashed through the glass and onto a small maintenance platform in the clock tower.

Peter kept her close to his chest out of fear, but grew concerned as she was shaking in his arms. "You okay?"

She shook her head, keeping her eyes squeezed tight as she tried to regain her breath. "Mm-mm."

He had no time to further assess her condition as Harry dropped some type of grenade right beside them.

As it detonated, Peter rolled over so Liz was protected from the blast, but the platform split in two and she nearly fell off the side if not for him catching her hand.

"I got you, Liz." He dropped her a couple feet only to latch a web to her wrist and carefully set her down on one of the large gears. "I'm gonna put you down right here."

She bit her lip as she tried to breathe normally again, but she wasn't very steady and she accidentally looked down to the ground. This was way too high, and all she wanted to do was roll into a ball and cry her eyes out.

Of course, she didn't have any time for that and now that Harry was flying around and fighting Peter just above her, it was far more important right now to find an exit.

She unsteadily maneuvered across a couple gears, but she lifted her head at a strange noise, eyes widening as Harry was flung off his hoverboard and it was falling towards her.

She got out of the way before it could hit her, but the weight of it against the hundreds-of-years-old gears made the floor from beneath her feet vanish. Peter noticed her falling right away and was luckily able to catch her by the wrist with a web.

She was roughly twenty or so feet away from him, Peter trying to pull her up as fast as he could. But Harry was only out of it for a moment before he jumped right back at Peter and pinned him to the ground.

Liz yelped as she was dropped then yanked back again as Harry pinned Peter's hand to the edge of the gear they were on, the string keeping Liz alive was now in a very vulnerable position and could quite easily snap.
