Audrey almost tripped over her skirt on her way into the meeting. After the Elysian debacle, she was both nervous and excited about telling the other Councillors. She knew they would agree that Elysian was too powerful and would need to be contained . . . but she wasn't sure they would agree on how Elysian needed to be contained. She rather thought that Fallon would prefer to hide Elysian from everyone, instead of taking her powers for the elves.
And that was exactly what happened. After the meeting ran over five hours longer than it was scheduled for, Audrey stood up and whistled. While she wasn't a Vociferator, she could still manipulate her voice to an extreme degree.
Fallon and Fintan both turned to stare at her. "What?" Fintan asked, his voice annoyingly irritated.
"Shouldn't we investigate Elysian more before making any decisions?" Audrey asked.
"You're the one who brought it up," Fintan reminded her.
"I know. But we only know vaguely what she can do; we need more information to decide whether she can truly benefit us. Besides, if we want her powers, we're going to have to fight to get them. And she kicked me out of her . . . home . . . incredibly easily."
Fintan and Fallon looked at each other. Then Fallon sighed. "I suppose that makes sense."
