Eren sat at the café table outside counting up his change. He had enough to get them each a cup of coffee already. He wanted to get something else for Armin.

The kid loved the blueberry muffins here. Eren sighed, he was ten cents short. He glanced around on the ground. Not seeing any change he wondered where else he may be able to get the needed money.

"How much?" Eren glanced up to see the waitress standing before him.

"Come on, I know today is beastie day, how much do you need?" She smiled at him, with bubble gum pink lips.

"T, ten cents." Eren muttered looking down. She didn't say anything as she scooped the change off of the table.

"Two large double doubles with a blueberry muffin?" She guessed.

Eren tried not to grin like a completely idiot. He nodded. She tapped his nose as she turned to walk away. How did she remember? He wondered. She came back before Armin showed up. There was a candle in the muffin. Eren chuckled at this. The waitress winked at him as she pulled out a lighter.

She lite the candle just as Armin came around the corner. She smiled at them both, wishing them the best of their "best friends day" before walking away.

Armin's eyes grew wide as he saw the muffin. He laughed dropping his bag, way more carefully than usual, beside his seat. Before he blew out the candle he bent over, ducking under the table.

"What are you doing? The wax is going to get into the muffin!" Eren laughed at his friend.

Armin came up with a box in his hand. It was from the bakery near their home. A place Eren commented on how well it smelled every morning. Armin sat the box in front of Eren.

"Go ahead, open it!" Armin giggled while blowing out the candle.

Inside was an elaborately decorated cupcake. It had balloons on it. Eren laughed at all the frosting. He was sure there was more frosting than cake!

There was a tiny plastic fork crammed in beside the massive mound of sugar. Eren took it out, scooped a bite onto it, before holding it up to Armin. Armin pressed the side of his muffin to the fork.

"To the best friend ever!" they said at the same time. Of course some people looked over at them, but they ignored them.

They sat eating their treats, having coffee, talking while laughing together for about an hour. When they were getting ready to leave, a different waitress came over. She was a former street kid that Eren had met a few times. She had found a girlfriend from the local college, whom she now lived with.

"Eren?" Ymir nodded to him.

"Hey, how's it going?" Eren asked.

"You looking for work?" She was never one to join in small talk.

Eren adjusted his backpack over his shoulders. "Yeah, I am." He nodded.

"You eighteen yet?" She wondered.

"As of March, yeah." He said.

"Great." She pulled a business card from her apron pocket.

"Go call this guy. He is looking for two over night security guards at a new construction sight. It's temp work for right now, but you do well and he may hire you permanently." Eren glanced down at the card.

Dot Pixis construction. It read. Eren nodded. "Thanks." He offered. Ymir eyed him.

"You don't have a phone." She pulled hers out holding it out to him.

Eren knew she wasn't suppose to have it on her while working. He snatched it out of her hand, nodding his thanks. Stepping down a side alley he called the number. After half a ring a grouchy voice answered.
