It was finally Rindou's big day, he was nineteen! And Violetta had so many things in mind before the day had arrived but she settled on a few simple activities.

See, she knew her boyfriend better than he thought she did. She knew he hated fatty foods, which is why he hated tuna and certain cuts of pork. She knew he loved the color amethyst and that he preferred his contacts to his glasses, but opted to wear his glasses most times because he thought he looked more attractive in them. She knew he wasn't that big into cologne, that he preferred body oils. She knew that when mixing music he didn't like a bunch of overlapping beats as it sounded unorganized to him. She knew that he was actually really scared of Ran but he'd never admit it to a soul. She knew he hated orange soda (which she found pretty amusing.)

And one of the many things she knew about her boyfriend included his love for Tommy heavenly6; her music was way more Violetta's style so the fact always made her giggle.

So that's how they were in their current situation; Rindou bouncing up and down excitedly as they waited for the artist's concert to start.

"How'd you even know I liked her!? I swear I only mentioned it like once!"

Violetta beamed her usual gap toothed smile, eyes scanning over Rindou's face. He looked elated, like he had descended upon the moon.

"Because you mentioned it once, I remember a lot of what you tell me Rinny. If it's important to you it's also important to me."

She was an ethereal being Rindou was convinced. She had surprised him with the tickets that morning when she popped up at his apartment holding a mango cream cake, four gift bags he had yet to open, and balloons.

The concert came and went, with both teens singing and dancing along to all the songs. Rindou had brought Violetta into his arms at some point, his chin resting on her shoulder as they swayed to the sweet songs the singer sang.

Now they were walking around the streets of Roppongi, fingers intertwined together as the lovers walked from shop to shop buying things. Violetta would scold Rindou for his sticky fingers, forcing him to put back anything she'd catch him tuck away into his pockets. She frowned as she spoke.

"I have plenty of money, Rin. Why do you feel the need to steal?"

Rindou grumbled out a response as he looked down at the floor of small shop. He couldn't bare the weight of the disappointment that was undoubtedly written upon Violetta's face. It was his birthday, he knew she'd buy him anything. Do anything to make this day magical for him, so why'd he feel the need to steal? The answer was so simple.

"Don't like you spendin' so much on me. I'm not worth it Vi."

Violetta huffed out softly. She nodded towards what Rindou has returned to the shelf, a small overpriced keychain.

"Go ahead and grab it Rinny, I'll buy it."

After paying for the item and walking out of the store together, Violetta sighed softly. They walked in a slightly uncomfortable silence to the subway station that looked over them until they got to Rindou and Ran's shared apartment.

Now, this wasn't the first time Violetta had gotten upset with Rindou for shoplifting with her. When they were just friends in school she once yelled at him in front of their friends because he actually stole from a local store.
But this time she wasn't mad, just concerned and disappointed.

"Woah woah, what's wrong with our sunshine?"

Ran questioned from his place at the kicker island. Rindou didn't have the energy to argue with his brother in this moment about him calling his girlfriend 'our sunshine' as he was too focused on Violetta's demeanor.

"She caught me stealin'... again."

The last part of the sentence coming out in a whisper as he watched Violetta completely ignore Ran and walking into her boyfriend's room.

Ran found this answer amusing.

"On your birthday? You ain't wanna let her spend daddy's money? You're fuckin' stupid."

Rindou just groaned and rubbed his face as he walked to his room, where we saw Violetta sitting on his bed playing with her bedazzled belt.

"I'm so sorry honey—"

"It's okay—"

"No, no don't dismiss it. I made a promise to you when we started dating to be a better man not just for you but also for me."

Rindou closed his door behind him as he came to kneel before Violetta, holding her hands tenderly in his own.

"And I swear I'm trying, but it's so hard to change what's almost like a second nature to me. But I swear baby I'm working on it for the both of us."

Violetta's eyes shimmered and a soft gap toothed grin broke out across her face.

"How can I be upset with you on your birthday? It's just like I don't understand why'd you steal on your birthday of all days."

Rindou looked down at the floor then back up at Violetta.

"You know how my parents aren't around anymore? Well, remember that talk we had about when me and Ran were homeless?"

Violetta nodded, the lightbulb in her head clearly not even have flickered yet.

"S' you know—"

"Oh! I get it I think! It it's cause every year Ran used to let you steal one thing you really wanted?"

The boy nodded his head slightly, an apologetic smile spread across his face. Violetta cupped his cheek gently, Rindou leaning into her touch.

"You no longer have to do that, my love. I want to spoil you, I know it's different than what you're used to but I'm different than what you're used to."

Rindou knew what she was referring to but chose to ignore it.

"You're right baby, I'm s' damn sorry."

Violetta leaned down and kissed his forehead, causing a fire to ignite within himself. She was so nurturing, so secure. She made him feel so vulnerable and so loved.

She sat back up and patted the spot next to her on the bed, Rindou standing up and sitting next to her. He intertwined their fingers, bringing her hand up to his slightly chapped lips.

"Thank you for making this birthday so magical, honey bunny."

Violetta giggled softly and rolled her eyes playfully.

"Anything for my special boy."
