Eye contact had always been a struggle for Rindou. It was especially hard when it came to authority figures that actually scared him, like Violetta's father Tyrone.
Being around Tyrone was never necessarily a scary thing for the youngest Haitani, more uncomfortable that anything truly. And now he was standing before the man, as it was a special day for Violetta so of course both of them were bound to be there. Rindou doesn't even know why he entertained the idea of the bald man not being at his own daughter's nineteenth birthday.
But today every time Rindou averted his eyes to look in another direction Violetta's older brothers were already staring at him with fiery eyes. The oldest at twenty five, Hakeem, was intimidating to say the absolute least. His whole aura threatened to swallow up everyone in the party including that of his younger brother, Maurice. The younger of the brothers at twenty one was by far the tallest person in the family, possibly six foot four but his build was slender and lean. A bit more timid in comparison to Hakeem but his height aided him.
Rindou chewed his lip softly as he took a step back and turned around just to be met with Violetta.
She looked like an Elysian beauty.
She had her natural hair out, a silver diamond tiara pinned to the front of her hair, diamond earrings that dangled from her ears, a pretty pink lip combo that made her lips look just so kissable, a cream colored drastically low cut dress that went down to her navel that also had a gorgeous train draped along the floor, and cream lace up heels to match.
All the rigidness in Rindou's body melted away like softened chocolate. It was the first time he'd seen her since arriving at the party. He gently took Violetta's hand into his, bringing it to his lips and kissing it softly.
"And don't you look absolutely beautiful? So pretty.."
He gently cupped her cheek, trying not to mess up her makeup too much. The girl giggled, a bright gap toothed smile coming into view.
"Thank you so much Rinny! Have you talked to my brothers yet?"
Rindou dropped his hand, as what felt like a million eyes landed on him in that moment. While it was only three sets watching his every move it felt like everyone in attendance to the party had their eyes on him.
He nervously scratched at his neck and offered a crooked, almost loopy smile."Well no, not yet. If I'm honest they both kinda scare me ya know? Like what if they don't like me? Your dad already doesn't."
Violetta took his hands in hers, her hands were so soft Rindou thought, and looked into her lover's eyes.
"They probably won't like you."
Rindou's jaw dropped and his eyes widened, but he soon began laughing. Violetta too began laughing. They laughed together quietly for a moment before Violetta regained herself and spoke.
"You're in my mind what's totally best for me, you make me the happiest girl in the galaxy. But if daddy has like, how do I say it? Pushed his opinion onto them? Then yeah there's a good chance they won't like you."
Rindou could tell from the dumb look in her pretty eyes that Violetta didn't realize how harsh what she was saying was. He was aware that this was the reality of his situation though. Rindou took a deep breath and nodded.
"Thank you for being honest, baby. Now go dance with some of your friends before it's time for presents, yeah?"
Violetta beamed at the prospect of dancing. Rindou leaned forward and kissed Violeta's forehead, her heels making them the same height. After pulling away Rindou shooed Violetta off, watching as she pranced over to the dance floor of the place her father her rented out.
