~Welcome to chapter ten~

LUCIEN

As soon as we reached their land, I smelt blood. Fresh blood. Everywhere.

It called on me with it's intoxicating scent, my fangs ached to sink into veins and drain dry as many beings as I wished, but I had to fight for control. We were soon to arrive at the palace and our hunger would be sated.

Etienne made sure the servants were well-fed before we left so they wouldn't go mad when they smelt so much blood.

I had always wanted Etienne to be ruler, and not me. She was wiser, she understood more, and mostly she cared.

I didn't.
Couldn't.
And even if there was once a time I did, the knowledge of how to do it was rusty.

"You didn't take the blood I sent to you this morning, did you?", Etienne spoke to me.

My eyes shot to hers, of course she had realised my struggle for control. "I will not drink from rats!", I rebuked.

Her crimson eyes narrowed. "That was all that was available. Why do you refuse to understand?!".

The carriage came to a stop. We were at the palace. Finally!

"Control yourself, Lucien", she said.

A low growl rose from my throat, I wasn't sure I was in the right frame of mind to think of control anymore.

I pushed the curtains covering the carriage's window to the side. I could see fairies leaving the building, some were with a human, some were with more.

"Lucien", Etienne called, a hint of panic in her tone.

I let go of the curtain and kicked off the shoes I had worn back on.
"Do not worry sister. I will not make a mess of whatever we're doing here. Now, you shall go ahead without me", I said.

As expected she disagreed. "You are king, your presence is more important than mine".

"I have to feed Etienne. Go!", I told her, and not waiting for her reply, I stormed out of the carriage.

Of course, the fairies all thought it was just the wind blowing at their expensive attires as I passed.

I wiped my hands clean with my shirt and threw it on the dry and ashy remains of the servant I had fed on.

My sister would be upset that I had soiled my clothes with blood, and was now putting on the clothes of the servant. But I found the clothes were far more comfortable than my original clothes.

I had seen the servant at the back of the palace, and the scent of his blood had tempted me the most, so I had followed him.

I looked around, now aware of my surroundings. There were varieties of flowers and scents that nearly choked me with their sweetness. I was in the palace garden.

The colors of the flowers hurt my eyes.
The lights on the ceiling were too bright.

I sighed as I remembered Etienne. I could already imagine the murderous looks she would sent me.

I heard the girl the crowned prince had dragged in with him when I was still feeding scream. When they had entered, I simply ignored their existence believing she was his. I was wrong.

Please Prince Ranesh let me go.

Stop!

"I won't be doing that today pet", the prince said.

I arched a brow at the statement.

Please stop!

Stop!

I normally wouldn't care, but my body felt stronger now that I had fed, and snapping a fairy's neck, a royal one at that, was too tempting to resist.

"She isn't yours is she?", I asked.

When his heart skipped a beat, I smiled.

***

My plan had obviously not worked as I watched the prince run for his life. My sister had spent days telling me about the royal family, as unwilling as I was to listen. That's how I even knew he was royalty when he dragged the girl in.

He was the heir to the throne.

Way too important to kill. That would start the war my sister was trying to avoid.
That was the only reason I had let him go.

"Prince Ranesh !", the girl screamed and I turned my eyes to her. "Prince Ranesh!".

I was puzzled.
"You want him back?", I asked her.

She was shaking, and it dawned on me that she was afraid of me.

I loved fear, it pleased me, but if she kept moving away from me, she was going to get stabbed by the rake that she couldn't tell was close to her.

I wanted to tell her to stop moving, but I knew that wouldn't work so I had to take it away from her.

"Stay back!" she screamed as I started walking closer.
"Stay away from me! Turn on the lights".

My brows rose in realization. She was probably only seeing my eyes in the dark. That must be frightening.
Sister said we shouldn't frighten anyone.

I turned the lights back on and winced as the bright lights pierced my eyes, at the same time I smelt the most delicious scent I had ever perceived in my life.

Fresh blood
Enchanted blood
The same blood the woman fairy that had visited our kingdom days ago had brought with her. It had driven me nuts and it still did now.

She was the source.

I moved closer to her to grab her by her expensive diamond collar and suck her dry, but I realized that that would be too much of a waste. Her blood was too precious to be wasted, she needed to be alive to generate more.

I had to heal her.

I swatted in front of her. Her blood was even stronger now. How badly I wanted to drink from her.

"I was trying to warn you", I told her, surprised that I could even speak, and she moved further into the wall.

I was almost amused.

Her eyes scanned me with genuine curiosity, and it surprised me. I had covered half of my face to prevent the Prince's blood from splashing on my face when I snapped his head, which didn't happen, but I was certain my eyes were still red. My body hadn't had it's fill of blood, thus the color.

Didn't she know what a vampire looked like? Even with half of my face covered, she should be able to tell.

"Who are you?", she asked her voice trembling.

She was asking the King of vampires who he was.
And I thought I was the crazy one.

I offered my hand. "Give me your hand, you are bleeding", I told her.

She placed her hand in mine immediately, only because I had compelled her to. She let out a gasp, and her hand shook in mine.

"Relax human".

I lifted her hand and swiped my tongue across her wound. I fought the urge to bite into her wrist at the taste of her. She tasted divine.

I continued to lick her hand even when her wound had healed, till the taste of her blood was completely gone. When I finished, I placed her hand on her thigh, and that's when I noticed what she had on.

A sheer gown that left next to nothing to the imagination. A growl left my lips. She had the most delicious blood I had ever tasted, and she just had to be irresistible to top it off.

I could feel my cock straining against the confines of the trousers I had on.

She was a temptation.

A temptation I had to get away from.

I teleported.
