Percy's P.O.V
It's been a day and no one has pranked me. I stepped in the shower and let the hot water run over me. I uncapped my shampoo bottle and poured some onto my hand. I paused and studied it. It had a grey tinge. I smelt it and immediately threw it away. Hair remover. Eventually I got out and dried off. I slipped on a hoodie and jeans. I walked out and saw a big yellow bucket on the door. Seriously? Amateurs. I stood on a chair and brought it down. I peered inside and saw a bright pink, gooey mass. Pink paint. I was about to empty it out into the bin but I had an idea. I poured the paint into a black bucket and attached rope to it. I then brought out a piece of string. I made a trip wire at the bottom of my doorway and connected it to the frame of my door, all the way to the top. I tied the black bucket to the ceiling (with the rope), just above my door. I then attached the string to the bucket. Done. I studied it. Perfect. When they sneak in to play a prank on me, they're going to trip over the string and the string will tip the bucket, all over them. I walked out of my room (making sure not to touch the string) then walked to the lounge. I sat down and grabbed myself a cup of coffee. Natasha sat next to me, drinking coffee and reading a book. I heard someone coming and looked up. Tony ran in, a big smile on his face.
"Hey Percy! Where's your hai-" he froze when he saw me, grinning back at him. He grumbled and walked into the kitchen, sulking. Then I heard someone else coming. I saw Clint run in, also grinning.
"Yo Perce! Why are you so pin-" he also froze and stopped grinning immediately when he saw me normal and unpink. He slunk into the kitchen, also sulking. I laughed and so did Natasha. A few minutes later they both came back, Tony was carrying a plate with a slice of leftover pizza on. They were trying, and both failing, to conceal smiles.
"Here you go Percy. As a sign of peace." Clint said and they quickly hurried away. I knew that they were both watching me but I knew better than to eat it. At that moment Thor walked in.
"Good morning to you all. Now, where are the Tarts that Pop?" He questioned.
"Hey Thor. Tony and Clint gave me this slice of pizza to give to you. As a present." I said slyly and handed it to him.
"Thank you Man of Iron and Eye of Hawk." He said and took the plate. I glanced behind me and saw Clint and Tony looking horrified. I snickered quietly and watched what was about to unfold. As Thor took a bite, it exploded. Food went everywhere. On the walls, on the floor but most of it was on Thor's face. He looked surprised for a moment then looked furious.
"How dare you!" He raged. Clint and Tony cowered and ran away, Thor hot in pursuit. I laughed hysterically, Natasha did too. I accepted a hi-five from her then went back to my room. The trap was undisturbed. I lay on my bed and I must've fallen asleep because a few minutes later I heard shouting. I shot up and grasped Riptide but then let go as I saw what the commotion was. I laughed silently as I saw Clint and Tony lying in a heap on the ground by my door, covered from head to toe in pink paint.
"You evil child!" Tony gasped out as he tried in vain to get the paint off.
"Hey everyone!" I yelled through the corridor. A few minutes later the rest of the team had arrived. Everyone but Vision were laughing at the two pink men. I licked my finger and drew a slash in the air.
"Score one for Percy, zero for Clint and Tony." I said. Soon afterwards everyone left and I had to clean up the mess the paint had made on the floor. I used my powers to speed it up a bit. Someone knocked on my door.
"Come in." I said and Steve poked his head inside.
"Hey. It's dinner time." He said.
"Thanks. I'll come now." He went away and I sighed unconsciously. I slowly stood up and walked towards the lounge. Tony and Clint were whispering to each other. I snickered when I saw patches of leftover pink on them. I sat down and stared at the cheese burger on my plate. I glanced at Natasha and she nodded reassuringly. I took a tentative bite and confirmed it to be safe.
"So. Where did you live?" Clint asked.
"In Manhatten with my mom and step dad. I also own a cabin in Montauk. It's kind of like a holiday house."
"You own it?" Wanda asked and I nodded. I only noticed now that she had an accent. What was it? Russian? Anyway. Stupid ADHD.
"My mom used to, but when she died, she left it to me in her will." I said, poking my food around a bit.
"I'm sorry." Wanda said. There was silence before Natasha asked,
"How did she die?"
"She was murdered." I said simply. They all winced but I ignored them. I'm used to the sympathy but that doesn't mean I like it. I stood up abruptly and walked out. I can't stand pity. I walked around until I saw Steve.
"Hey Steve. Can you show me where the pool is?" I asked.
"Sure. Follow me." He said and walked away. I followed closely.
"Thank gods." I muttered, took off my shoes and jumped in. I swam a few laps before diving to the bottom and sitting on the pool floor. I looked up and saw two figures at the edge of the pool. They split up and walked on either side. They were pulling the pool cover over the pool, trying to drown me. I realised that it was Clint and Tony, trying to play a prank on me. This is totally going to backfire on them. I lay on the bottom and closed my eyes, pretending to be dead. After about five minutes the pool cover came off again and Tony and Clint looked down at me worridly. I lay dead still. Through a slitted eye, I watched Tony rip off his shirt and dive in. He grabbed me under my arms and pulled me to the surface. I lay limp in his arms. Clint pulled me out and I willed myself to remain wet.
"Percy! Percy!" Tony shouted, trying to slap me awake.
"NATASHA! THOR! STEVE! HELP!" Clint yelled. A few minutes later I heard footsteps.
"What? What's wrong?" Natasha asked.
"It's Percy! I think we killed him!"
