Percy's P.O.V

I walked behind Natasha back to my cell. After refusing Fury's offer, they all got angry and he sent me back to my cell. Natasha stopped so abruptly that I walked into her.

"Oops." I muttered.

"Why?" She asked. I frowned.

"Why what?"

"Why would you refuse our offer? People would kill to have a chance of joining the Avengers. Why say no? Don't you want to save the world? Beat bad guys? Defeat evil? Don't you want to be a hero?" She said, trying to persuade me.

"Don't lecture me about being a hero! I've saved the world countless times and you don't even realise it! I'm done being a hero. My old life ended when Annabeth's did." I growled at her and stalked into my cell. I sat on the bed and glared at the wall. I couldn't tell how long had passed before I fell asleep. Unfortunately I had a dream. I was in the Underworld. I saw Cerberus, who barked excitedly.

"Hey boy." I said and patted the left head. His middle head growled and they started fighting. Why am here? Am I dead? I heard a familiar laugh.

"No Seaweed Brain. You're not dead." I spun around and saw her. Annabeth. I ran to her and hugged her, burying my head in her lemon scented hair.

"I've missed you." I muttered.

"I've missed you too." She replied. We stayed there for a while before letting go. I still held onto her hand.

"Come with me." She said and led me past Cerberus, throwing a ball (that had magically appeared in her hand might I say) to him. We walked along the banks of the River Styx, hand in hand. I admit, it's not my ideal romantic date but it's better that nothing.

"So, what's been going on in your life?" She asked. I caught her up on what was happening.

"What should I do?" I asked her. She was silent for quite a while.

"I say you should join these 'Avengers'." She said. I felt my eyebrows rise.

"Why?" I asked.

"Well for starters, your brave face doesn't fool me, your facade is fading and you're spiraling. You're broken." She said simply.

"Am not." I defended myself.

"Are too."

"Am not."

"Are too."

"AM NOT!"

"Yes you are! Percy, don't argue with me about this!" I glared at the ground. She wrapped her arm around my waist.

"Percy, this is for the best." She leaned up on her toes and kissed me softly. I embraced her tightly and buried my face in her hair.

"I love you Seaweed Brain." She muttered. Everything darkened and the last thing I smelt was Annabeth's vanilla scent.

I sat up in my small white bed. My eyes brimmed with tears and I sniffled softly.

"I love you too. My Wise Girl." I whispered. I wiped my eyes and then noticed a plate of food next to the bed. It had beef steak and mashed potatoes on it. I picked it up slowly and studied it. With an angered yell I threw it against the wall. The plate smashed into a million pieces and the food splattered everywhere. I buried my face in my arms and tried to the stop the on coming torrent of terrible memories. Sobs wracked my body as I thought about my dead love.
