(Seine River, Paris)
The moon hung low in the charcoal sky, casting its ghostly pallor over the Seine River, as if even the heavens were reluctant witnesses to the unfolding mystery. Detective Jeon stood transfixed, his sharp eyes scanning the rising waves before him, while the cold Parisian breeze whispered through its narrow alleyways and dived into the icy water.
Jeon's stoic face betrayed nothing, but within, his mind churned with anticipation and curiosity. Taehyung, spoke in his deep voice, recounting the twisted tale that had led them to this city.
He told Jeon about how he met Aera for the first time not in Korea but in Paris. They both attended the same graduate school and them being cousins was a lie altogether. Everything was going well until one day Aera came to know who Taehyung really was. The enigmatic art student was not merely an observer capturing the world's beauty through his lens. He possessed a shadowy identity, one that wove him into the delicate fabric of hidden realms and unsolved mysteries. Taehyung's artistic pursuits were nothing but a disguise.
"Two things, one, Aera knew you all this time and she lied to me? To her husband?" Jeon looked at Taehyung with unbelievable suspicion in his eyes. "Second, you're telling me that two unsolved murder cases of Korean women studying at Paris University back in 2013 were done by the same person who made Kim Tobaek commit six heinous murders in Korea five years ago."
Taehyung blinked twice at how such a serious judgment by him was effortlessly reduced to a mere trivial explanation. It seemed to mock him from all directions but he knew that would happen. Nevertheless, he said a firm yes. "I know you won't believe me without profound evidence."
A sceptical smirk danced across Jungkook's lips. The subtle scoff that followed seemed to echo in the air as if challenging the sincerity behind Taehyung's words. He moved closer to Taehyung. "I hope you have strong supporting arguments Taehyung or whatever your name is because once you're done explaining; if I find anything self-fabricated which I must say you are great at creating, the consequence will not be good."
Taehyung's voice trembled a little before uttering the first sentence. He knew Jeon was not in the mood to joke around. Taehyung took out a badge from his coat's pocket and showed it to Jeon. In bold capital letters and a maple leaf, it said, CSIS, Canada with its motto Vigilance. Integrity. service. A photograph on the left side under which was written the name, Agent 007V, Overseas Crime intelligence department, Member 13-04-01.
Jeon took the badge in his hand. He carefully examined it and then threw it into the Seine River. "Next!"
"What the fuck was that? Did you...did you just throw my official badge in the water?"
"If it was real then you can get it again from the department. Say that you dropped it in the river." Jeon was not going to believe him that easily. "Agent 007V?! You seriously thought I would believe it?"
