The news of the Emperor's butler being so brutally murdered spread wildfire and soon the whole noble faction drowned in chaos. But the problem was, how did the perpetrator even enter the palace, when it's protected by magic barriers? Even the common folk grew scared of this perpetrator that had killed the ever loyal, William.
Hayes was of course already informed of the mishappening, and he felt a chill run down his spine. It was true that Hamada had dropped the motive to kill him, the Crown Prince, but he still was an assassin, and William knew that. William died because he knew too much, and not because he was going to betray the country as previously written in the novel.
As Hayes had never read the book himself, he wasn't sure what to expect but he knew he was safe for now, or Emily wouldn't have left so abruptly.
Eira, Vera and Niveus who also had heard the news of the murder grew vigilant, and rightfully so, "Hayes, I don't think it's fit for you to let that child be your butler until the perpetrator has been caught."
They weren't wrong with being cautious, but how could the young crown prince explain it to his familiars that the said perpetrator wouldn't do anything to him; well, at least for now.
"I understand your concern, but if he is the culprit or related to them, keeping him as the butler might prove beneficial instead, because then we will not only have an even graver crime to accuse him of, but also evidence on Mr. William's murder if he really is connected to any of this."
"Even if you are right, it's an assassin we are talking about, Hayes. We can't be careless with that!" Eira voiced out.
"I know, but this step will either give us the criminal we are trying to find, or remove any suspicion from Hamada for good. No one suspects him for now as he is new, not only to my palace but to the capital as well; if he had to kill William, he would require a few more people to excute this so cleanly."
"Hayes is right, Eira. We might want to take this risk." Vera said as she weighed the options. It was obviously critically dangerous if they had let the alleged assassin anywhere near to the crown prince, but if they didn't they would never find evidence for Hamada being the actual culprit.
Niveus was silent, he didn't say anything as he understood what his master was trying to do. No matter what level of assassin, they would never be able to stand against any of the familiar including itself, or even Hayes alone. But the tricky part was the butler himself.
After much discussions they had agreed on letting Hamada Fuyuto officially take charge of being the Crown Prince's personal butler, but would be eliminated if he tried to harm the prince in way, shape or form.
"Thank you for entrusting me in your service, Your Highness, the Crown Prince. I, Hamada Fuyuto, your personal butler as of now shall never disappoint in my service." The obsidian haired boy smiled brightly as he took the oath.
"Very well, welcome to the Ceales Palace, Hamada." The lilac haired prince smiled warmly at the older boy. He knew how much of a threat this little boy could be, but for now, Hamada was an ally and he would treat him like one as well.
