•Kira POV•
I walked with Nova to science, who was also in Mr. Machalevi's class. A lot of my first period was with him. My other periods were mostly other kids, except Harry was in my math class.
Nova and I sat down at a table with Jay. The second I sat Mr Machalevi began to speak.
"Since we're examining DNA this year, I brought in some arachnids. They'll stay inside the glass case while you watch them and list their possible genetic adaptations in your ISN," he said. I heard Nova's breathing intensify when he lifted a aspirator filled with spiders. "Everyone, come closer if you need too," he added. Most kids ran and the oohed and ahhed at them, but I stayed out with Nova. Jay went over to see.
"You okay?" I asked Nova. She just nodded.
•Nova POV•
I stayed frozen in my seat. Spiders?! It was like this teacher deliberately tried to make my life harder! I didn't trust him at all. I was grateful Kira had stayed with me.
A few minutes later, everyone had written down the adaptations, including me. I didn't have to see them.
For the rest of the class period, we watched a Bill Nye video about genetics.
Why genetics? I thought for the hundredth time. I knew it was impossible that he knew about my powers... right?
