Twinkle, Dedede and Kirby's eyes widened at the sudden turn of events. Twinkle, in particular, looked a little green.
"T-this aura!" Twinkle stammered, losing all feeling in her legs as she collapsed onto her legs, her eyes no longer looking at the figure which had appeared before the trio.
"Oh no! Oh NO! OH NO!" Dedede panicked, running in circles wildly, panic emitting in his whole body language as his brain froze.
Kirby's brain froze as well. Despite being reincarnated, and knowing what to do next, a lot of things weren't accounted for.
Because this nightmare was powerful, and so, Kirby couldn't help but panic, jumping in one spot as they casted their pride away, looking panicked.
The figure laughed.
"I must thank you for freeing me." The figure smiled, his cloak hiding most of his body. "It's been so long since I've been released into the world! Finally! I can spread nightmares throughout this world! HAHAHAHAHA!"
The figure wickedly cackled, before turning into an orb, flying into the now darkened sky as Dedede watched.
"...Did you know about this?" Twinkle asked, pure fear in her eyes as she questioned Dedede. Dedede, no longer needing to hide it, nodded his head.
"I had noticed that all the citizens were gaining nightmares from his influence. So I broke apart the Star Rod to protect everyone." Dedede admitted, looking away bashfully.
A chuckle came from Twinkle, as she turned her head away.
"I'm a fool. To think I could lead this village when I couldn't even detect such a thing..." She muttered, covering both her cheeks with her hands, a small tear falling from her eye. "Now he's going to spread nightmares upon our world..."
Dedede took a look at Kirby, who was still panicking. He deadpanned, before his eyes landed on the Star Rod.
The Star Rod, which was originally on the Fountain of Dreams, had gotten launched once Nightmare had appeared, discarded to the pavement where the three of them were.
A small smirk came on Dedede's face, as his eyes turned from the Star Rod to Kirby.
"Not necessarily." Dedede smirked, while Twinkle's head raised, curious as to what he meant.
