Murtasim had been struggling with an internal conflict. His wife was ill- the mental exhaustion that she had experianced had caused a temperature. The doctor had confirmed that she was fine and just needed to rest. But that hadent been enough for him- his mind wondered to the worst of outcomes and suddently he didnt have it in him to stay away from her.

What if she needed something? What if her temeprature rose higher. What if she deicded to get food to eat from the kitchen and fainted again en-route?

Murtasim decided he wouldnt be able to help her if he stayed in his own bedroom.

Obviously his mother objected to his stance as her room was right next to Mariyum's and the doctor had reassures it was nothing serious.

It wasen't enough. He was her husband- her responsibility. Murtasim pushed the bedding off his legs and and stood up. He reached over to his chair to retrieve his shawl, before wrapping it and began making his way to his wifes room.

He walk across the landing and past the balcony doors, right into the girls hallways. He even looked over his shoulder afew times to make sure there was no one peaking- the coast was clear.

He had already let her down when Anas almost abducted her and he wasen't going to risk something happening to her again- not that he thought that there was any physical risk but a fever is always unpredictable.

Thats what he told himself to justify sneaking into her room at this hour. He didnt knock as to avoid making any noise. He pushed the handle down quietly to peak in and he sensed that there was no movement.

More lightly than he had ever tred before, Khan Murtasim Khan tiptoed into his wife's room and closed the door behind him. Exhaling the air he had unconsciously been holding in.

When he turned that corner, he saw her laying on her side- head flopped to the side. Her hair open and wandering all over the pillow and the sound of light snores leaving her.

Murtasim placed one knee of the edge of her bed and the matress dipped. He leaned over her, to straighten her out, guiding her head ontop of the pillow and that snoring sound lessened.

He wipe across her forehead and felt that she was cold- so he pulled the blanket further up her body.

Then he thought that it wont be enough so he decided to takes a seat next to her. Automatically, she nuzzled into whatever warmth was by her side.

Meerab felt her body ache from the inside out. The effect of heart break perhaps. She let go of her body weight and melted into the matress beneath her- as though it could carry the burdens of the worries she had just experienced.

She remained like this throughout the night.

Murtasim however was unable to slip into a deep sleep with his worry- waking occasionally kissing her temple to ease it.

When Meerab next opened her eyes- she saw that she was in her own room. That familier no scent- scent engulfed her and she stretched- trying to undue to knots of stress in her back muscles.

Murtasim sat up at her movement next and he gazed down at her semi-concious wife. She looked a little pale and he grazed his knuckles against he cheek. 'Meerab?'

Meerab felt a shadow- the feelings of a gaze on her and she opened her eyes. It was early morning perhaps from the little light but still her eyes were struggling to adjust.

Her husband was sat at her bedside- looking so unlike himself. Defeated and tired - his hair was undone and clothes crinkled. She wondered how long he had been sitting there.
