"Is everyone loaded up? Y/N, do you have your NVG's?" Price asks and I check my chest pocket through my snow ghillie suit to ensure that I do and I feel the goggles resting inside the pocket. I nod yes and I climb into the backseat of the armored truck. I shut the door and rest my sniper rifle that has been wrapped in a white coating to camouflage with the snow against the door. Ghost climbs into the front seat and König gets behind the wheel. He turns the key in the ignition, roaring the machine to life. Price waves us off and he enters the building with Gaz and Alejandro to make their way to the roof to prepare to take off in the chopper. As the truck begins driving off the base I pull the mission plan from my pocket and read over it, ensuring I have everything down pat. As I read through the objectives I see "CAPTURE SAUER" circled in red ink. I feel my stomach crawl with butterflies as I ponder the possible outcomes of my first mission in the task force. I feel nervous, excited, scared, and angry all in one. I look out the window to see trees and small hills coated in snow flying by as König speeds toward the terrorist's outpost, putting the paper back in my vest.
"Two hour drive, right?" I ask, leaning forward in my seat to have my head positioned in between the two front seats.
Ghost nods yes and I sit back, closing my eyes and leaning my head against the window. I stay that way for a while, just attempting to relax. I want my head to be in the right spot when we get there. If you're too nervous you freeze up and this mission is very important. I need to prove myself. After fifteen minutes or so I hear Ghost shuffle in his seat and I keep my eyes closed.
"I think she fell asleep." Ghost gruffs, his voice stern and matter-of-a-fact. He shuffles in his seat once again and I squint my eyes open slightly to see him leaning against the arm rest, looking over at König. He stays that way for a moment before speaking up, his voice low and heavy with his british accent.
"What did you two do in the Armory?"
König chuckles lightly and taps the steering wheel with his hands a few times.
"Why?" König asks slyly, his smile apparent in his tone.
"I'm not dumb, I notice things König. Now answer my question."
I shuffle in my seat instinctively at the rising tension in Ghosts voice and I can hear Ghost move a little bit as if he was looking back at me. He groans lightly and repeats the question again, this time his tone even colder and demanding. "What did you two do in the Armory, König?"
König doesn't speak for a moment, he was obviously thinking about how he should respond. A part of me wanted him to lie and say we didn't do anything. There was another part of me who was stricken with nagging curiosity at what Ghost's response would be if König told the truth and I sat there anxiously waiting for everything to unfold.
"I fingered her." König says, bluntly. His voice was void of any emotions. Not pride or even guilt, he stated it factly. I felt my blood turn to ice as his words hung stale in the air of the truck. Ghost was a scary man. He was tall and built like a mac truck but then again so was König. He was even taller, so It would be silly to assume König would be fearful to spare Ghost the truth.
Ghost shuffles in his seat and I squint my eyes open once again to measure Ghosts body language at this information but I can't seem to pick up on anything and it frustrates me slightly. I just want guidance, I want to know how he feels about it. The "sharing" has officially started and I wanted to know if Ghost can remain cordial about the whole situation. All I could do is sit and wait.
