Fifth Night

Golden Flumpty POV

Jeremy's mind cracked. It was a small crack, but it was enough.

At last! Golden Flumpty thought with glee.

He slid through the opening, entering the sprawling tunnel network of the contestant's brain. As soon as he got in, however, he was instantly hit with a wave of pressure. Golden Flumpty flew backward, but steadied himself before he was pushed out completely.

I should've known it wouldn't be that easy... Golden Flumpty thought, flying forward.

To Golden Flumpty's dismay, the pressure increased on him, as if Jeremy's brain was purposely pushing him out. Behind him, he could see the crack in Jeremy's brain was gradually healing.

I have to do this fast!

Golden Flumpty launched himself forward with a huge burst of speed and navigated through the tunnels of Jeremy's brain. As his speed slowly decreased, the pressure built on Golden Flumpty. It was like he was trying to run full speed into a flooding dam.

Nevertheless, Golden Flumpty held on and propelled himself forward with another surge of speed. He flew through Jeremy's brain for a couple more seconds until he stopped, catching sight of something. He looked into the entrance of a cavernous area in his brain, and saw it.

There, in the center of the open cavern, was Jeremy's sense of direction. It was a sphere of pale blue light, with thin blue lines shooting out of it that touched the walls of the cavern.

Golden Flumpty was once again repelled backwards, harder than ever this time.

Could his sense of direction be creating this pressure wave?

Shooting himself forward with a final speed boost, Golden Flumpty grabbed on to the entrance to the cavern. He was starting to crack from the overwhelming pressure.

Golden Flumpty charged up a massive ball of raging energy and launched it at Jeremy's sense of direction. The ball of bright yellow energy slammed against the equally sized blue sphere.

The balls of energy ground against each other, and the blue sphere shrank as the yellow lightning bolts crawled across its surface. Finally, the blue sphere diminished into nothing and vanished in a bright explosion.

The force of the blast shot Golden Flumpty backwards all the way to the crack he created. Just before he was ejected from his brain, he grabbed on to the rapidly sealing crack in Jeremy's mind.

Three small green orbs materialized in Golden Flumpty's hand and he hurled them into the depths of Jeremy's mind, letting go of the mental crack just before it fully healed. With that, he floated into the void surrounding Jeremy's mind.

Hey, Goldie, a voice in his head whispered.

Golden Flumpty jumped back, startled. Then he claimed himself, sighing.

Hello, Flumpty, Golden Flumpty thought back.

Thought you might wanna know that the last new crew member is about to be joining us!

Alright, I'll be over there...

Flumpty POV

Flumpty carried the Owl's decaying corpse into the white surgery room, placing her body on an operating table. The Beaver's corpse lay on another operating table next to her's.

At the side of the room there was a desk that had an assortment of questionable tools.

Golden Flumpty materialized in the room, next to the two operating tables.
