Ignoring the lil words in the picture, quick history lesson: King Kamehameha ☆the first☆ had not only a cool name but had just finished beating the shit out of King Piccolo, and to celebrate the beautiful bond between him and George ☆the third☆, the British flag was used for a lil while as the official Hawaiian Flag. However.. when the war of 1812 rolled around things went south. As they do in a war. King Kamehameha wanted to calm everybody down but telling them to work it out wasn't helping. So to appease each side, he designed the flag pictured above. As a way to reassemble everyone he had the Union Jack in the corner, and the colors + strips pulled from the 'merica flag.
Though if you couldn't already tell, unlike the American flag, there's blue strips added. Now I haven't read anything that confirms or denys this but I assume those are there for differentiating and clarifying it's the hawaiian flag and not just some old flag made purely to shut up rage hungry war goers. Personally I think it was a smart move design wise. But anywayyyyy-
