Sky Davis
New York City, New York

Sky took a long drag of her cigarette as she stood outside with her freehand tucked into the pockets of her tracksuit bottoms. As she blew out the smoke, she felt the fatigue slowly begin to get to her. She hadn't been home in days, she'd been working non-stop and just relying on ordering food from restaurants.

Unlike all her peers, Sky had been struggling with inspiration and she'd left her project as she battled to find something to give her that artistic push which would not only meet her perfectionist standards but also reveal what was inside of her. She wanted her last sculpture in this University to be nothing but perfection because it would be her debut into the artistic world.

"You've been grinding hard, huh?" Liberty chuckled, taking in a drag of her own cigarette. She stood close to Sky as they stared off onto the campus football field, it was empty and foggy since it was 4am in the morning.

Sky chuckled tiredly, "I'm heading home tonight though. My lady's been waiting for me." She continued, she hadn't seen Kalea for a whole week since they'd spent her birthday together.

Liberty sighed, "I hope the two of you are being as thick as thieves. You never know who's watching."

Sky had already dealt with Kalea's paranoia and she frankly couldn't bear to hear it from someone else. Of course they knew what they were doing was risky but they were two adults who understood the consequences. They didn't need constant reminders. Putting out her cigarette on a nearby bin and then throwing it inside, Sky glanced back at Liberty who stared at her with low eyes before she nodded and she headed back to the sculpture room to resume her project.

She brushed up her clothes then she slumped down onto her stool and grabbed the equipment before slowly, yet gradually, making changes to her sculpture. Adding intricate details while her eyelids were heavy with exhaustion.

Sky had just tidied up and began her walk to Kalea's house until an unfamiliar Mercedes pulled up beside her, she stared at it weirdly as the window rolled down and she saw the man that had dropped Kalea off that night. The man that she constantly complained about.

"Hey, you're Kalea's friend, aren't you? Trent asked, staring at an annoyed Sky.

Sky shrugged, "What do you want from me?"

Trent simply chuckled before his driver stepped out of the car and opened the door, then just standing as still as a statue. Watching with cautious eyes, Sky stood as the man in the suit stepped out of the elegant vehicle and headed towards her before he finally came to a stop when they were right in front of one another.

"I want nothing from you, Sky." Trent smiled slyly before pulling an envelope out of his pocket and placing it in Sky's hands.

Just as he did so, Sky watched as the Dean approached them with a smile before proceeding to hug Trent. She watched as the two men exchanged warm greetings and she quickly opened the envelope before taking a quick peek inside to see that the first picture was of her and Kalea kissing.

Feeling her heart sink to the floor, Sky felt her hands begin to shake as Trent joked with the Dean before they finally turned their attention towards her.

"Sky, my star artist, how are the finals treating you?" The Dean asked warmly, he was a kind white man and he knew Sky because she'd put the University on the map with some of her sculptures.

Trent watched with an amused expression as Sky failed to speak and he quickly covered for her, "Dean, I don't think she's in any condition ti be talking, these finals have been showing her flames." He patted her back with a window grin as the Dean chuckled.

"I have no doubt that the result will
be amazing." The Dean replied before saying his goodbyes and heading to his own car, leaving Sky alone with this monster of a man.

Exhaling deeply, Sky glanced up at Trent before asking, "What do you want?"

Trent's smile dropped and his real self reared itself as he acted as if he was thinking for some time. He finally paused and look down at Sky before relying, "What do you think I want?"

"Kalea." Sky stated curtly.

"Exactly." He nodded before walking over to his car, his driver still standing there as he held the door open, "You can't handle her, so I'll wait until you do what needs to be done and return her to me."

After she'd stood there for a few minutes, Sky had managed to suck up the strength to continue to Kalea's house and she'd been standing at the door for 10 minutes without knocking because she didn't know what she was going to do. The envelope was heavy in her pocket while her heart threatened to jump out of her throat.

The door swung open and a disheveled Kalea stood there, staring worriedly at Sky before pulling her inside and shutting the door. She followed Sky into the living room and they silently sat on the sofa as the show that Kalea had been watching played quietly in the background.

"What's wrong?" Kalea asked nervously, she'd never seen Sky look so stuck. Maybe the exhaustion had gotten to her. Or maybe it was something else.

Kalea inched closer to Sky and held her cold hands in her warm ones while Sky simply sat there. She eventually wrapped her arms around Sky and pulled her into a hug, feeling the younger woman begin to melt into her embrace as time passed. Once again, Kalea could feel Sky's racing heart but she wanted Sky to tell her what was going on at her own time.

Soon enough, she felt composed enough to pull away and look at a worried yet calm Kalea.

Sky pulled the envelope out of her pocket and ripped it open, allowing all the pictures to scatter between them. Some were when they were at home, some at Kalea's old house and others were simply coffee and dinner dates. However, they painted a very clear picture of what was going on. A professor and a student.

"Trent gave these to me today." Sky said with a shaky voice, she couldn't even look at Kalea because she couldn't bear to see her lover break down because she knew this was Kalea's biggest fear.

"I know he did, Sky." Kalea said softly, she grabbed all the pictures and threw them in the lit fire place and she stared as they turned to ash. Sky looked up in surprise as Kalea smiled softly at her.

"I grew up with this man. I know how he thinks." Kalea sighed, her eyes were glossed over with worry as she reached over to placed on hand on Sky's face, caressing her with her thumb. "I knew he'd do this and Jeremiah told me because he'd seen you guys having a conversation."

"Jeremiah?" Sky asked confusedly.

"Yeah, he saw me coming out of your hotel room while we were in Rome and has been in on it since then." Kalea rolled her eyes slightly as she thought of her cousin, but she loved him to bits.

"What are we gonna do?" Sky asked, "I'm not breaking up with you, Kalea." Her eyes widened as she spoke, the panic beginning to wash over her once again. "I'd rather drop out than do that." Sky began to pant with worry and Kalea watched as her lover crumbled.

Of course it hurt to see Sky worry so much about her but a part of her loved that she wasn't the only one who was crazily in love.

"You just focus on your finals." Kalea said softly, pulling Sky back to reality by rubbing her leg.

"I wasn't planning on telling you this so early on but I'm planning to quit working at Columbia."

"What?"
