Chapter Thirty-Eight;
Why?Kalea 'Ruth' Kingston
New York City, New YorkOnce the car stopped, Kalea gazed through the window, recognising her neighbourhood and sighed in relief that she could finally end this God forsaken car ride. She snatched her handbag and before the chauffeur could even open the door for her, Kalea jumped out of the car and slammed the door behind her.
She walked around the car and towards her door, not before Trent reached out to grab her arm but Kalea quickly pulled away.
"Fucking hell, you couldn't get me so you had to go to one of my few friends and do that to her?" Kalea shouted, she dropped her purse and groaned.
Every single thing was turning to shit and it always lead to Trent. She could feel her skin prick up in agitation and the blood began to rush through her ears as she stood on the sidewalk, listening to him breathe deeply.
"I'm.." Kalea pushed Trent, and then pushed him again, until she could feel someone grab her arms and pull her away.
"Fucking sick of your bullshit!" She screamed, forcing her way out of the person's arms and reaching for Trent again, "Why do you always have to fuck shit up for me?"
Trent simply stood there, defeated. His warm brown skin had lost its shine and his lips were darker than his usual reddish lips. Kalea took in his dishevelled appearance but her own anger consumed her, she'd never ever be able to get rid of him, would she?
"Kalea!" Sky shouted her name, pulling her left arm in an attempt to remove her from Trent, she'd never seen her partner look so out of it before.
Some strands of her braids had slipped from her pony tail, her white dress shirt was untucked and hung broadly over her thin frame and her black purse was on the floor. Even her lipstick was non-existent and Kalea loved keeping her lips in order.
"Get in the house!" Sky shouted, she quickly picked up the purse from the floor and stood between Kalea and Trent, shoving the bag into Kalea's hands; her aggressive action drawing Kalea's attention.
Her eyes softened as she looked at Sky, feeling slightly embarrassed by her actions.
"Did you know?" Kalea asked Sky, catching her breath as she stood there, barely holding onto her bag and sanity. She watched as Sky looked away, if she had a tail, it would be tucked between her legs right now with how ashamed she looked.
"You've known this whole week, haven't you?" Kalea asked again. Sky sighed, the scent of her familiar passion fruit leave-in conditioner wafting in the air, it didn't calm down Kalea anymore.
It enraged her.
"I asked her to keep it a secret." Another voice spoke up, Skylar stood at the door, her eyes focused on Trent, who simply stood there.
