"you gonna say something?" i asked
he continued to sit there in silence. he was still in shock. he hasn't spoken a single word in the last ten minutes. mainly because i was explaining everything to him, but still.
"i know this is a lot to take in right now but—"
"h-how?" he asked, finally breaking his silence "how is this possible?"
what pissed me off the most was the fact that he had to see me wearing a sash that said "mommy to be," and not to mention the whole apartment being decorated for a baby shower, i can't even spin that shit. i coulda probably said it was a cyst or something otherwise.
"it's complicated to be honest. it shouldn't be possible though"
"this is the side hustle you was talkin' about?" he asked
"mhmm" i nodded
"so that's why yo ass wouldn't drink with me back then"
"mhmm"
"this shit for real for real? like that's a baby in there? a human baby?" he asked
"as far as i know, yeah"
"why you ain't tell me, you ain't trust me?"
ah shit. i'm a bad friend. fuck.
"trust me, i wanted to. i just couldn't. i signed a contract stating that i couldn't tell anybody. i had already broken that by telling amauri, but he was in the need to know. unfortunately, you weren't"
"a contract?"
"yeah. the doctors who are basically caring for me and making sure everything is good, they wanna keep it a secret. and so do i. ion want this getting out and then i become a science experiment or something. so i need you to promise you're not gonna tell anyone. like deadass"
"of course, i gotchu. so this why you broke it off with homie?" he asked referring to dante
"one of the reasons, yeah"
"he know?" he asked
"he knows what he needs to know" i said and left it at that
he continued to sit there, staring into space.
"nah, this gotta be a prank or sumn. you not pregnant"
i sighed then stood up from my bed to stand in front of him. i then lifted up my shirt once again to show him that this was real.
"see. no makeup, no prosthetics, none of that" i said then slowly spinned
"i still don't believe it"
i took his hand into mine then placed it on my stomach.
"any minute now" i whispered
after a few seconds there was a gentle kick in the exact spot his hand was in. it caused him to jump and pull his hand back.
