"Being able to open up is going to take some adjusting and time because, as you may have realized, I haven't trusted anyone in a long time. Not even my own crew," he said honestly. "Why is that?" I said, hoping he would tell me. "Over a decade ago, my first mate Hector Barbossa led a mutiny against me, leaving me on a deserted island, which I eventually escaped. It wasn't till a couple of months ago that I was able to get the Black Pearl back. The story is too long for me to go into detail, but all you need to know is that on the sea, you can't trust anyone." It took me a second to process all that he said, but once I did, I nodded.
"Well, if you can't trust anyone, why do you choose to trust me?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me. "I've never met anyone like you. You love the sea as much as I do, and you're more stubborn than I am, but unlike me, you care about the people around you and want what's best for them, not what's best for you. That may be because of how young you are, but I hope that it is because you are a good person." I smiled at him and giggled. "How young do you think I am?" He took a moment to look me over before saying, "Well, the oldest you can possibly be is 23," he said with a shrug. I laughed again and shook my head "nope, I'm 28, close to 30" I said just now realizing I didn't even know Jacks age. "What about you? What's your age?" he quickly recovered from his shock and said, "I'm 38, a decade older than you." I nodded, expecting him to be somewhere around there. "That makes sense. You act younger, so the only reason I would think you're in your late 30s is by the tiredness in your eyes." He nodded "well, I must say it definitely eases my conscience what little there is left of it to know that you are closer in age than I thought you were."
I nodded in agreement "I feel as though we've gotten to know each other more in the past 30 minutes, and we have in my entire time knowing you." I said, just then realizing how little we knew each other beforehand. "That we have love," he said, adjusting his hat. "What do we do from here? Are we just friends who kissed? Are we more?..." I trailed off, not knowing what else there could be. "if you feel you're ready to be more, I would like that, but I don't know what it's like to be in a good relationship. I feel as though you have a lot more knowledge than I do." I nodded, remembering my past relationship. "I do know what it's like to be in a serious relationship, but I must admit I've never been in one with the pirate, so we are both going to learn how this relationship will be. And I'm not against trying, but I need to know that you will actually try, not just put half of the effort and expect me to do the rest."
He smiled "I'm going to try I can promise you I won't run away like a coward this time." I gave him a gentle kiss on the lips. "Good now the next step is to tell people." He smiled at me "that won't be a problem at all." in a second, he grabbed my hand and jogged towards the deck of the ship. I close the door to his room on the way out, and once we enter the deck, Jack whistles. "listen up, mates. This here is my booty, and anyone who lays a hand on her or tries to steal her from me, will be left stranded on an island full of cannibals or something much worse. Is that understood?" he said, exclaiming the last part. Everyone on deck replicated the shock that I was sure was on my face. They all knotted, glancing between the two of us, and looking at our interlocked hands.
I could see Cotton, Martha, Jacob, and Jonathan all smiling proudly. But there were also quite a few people on the ship who were scowling at Jack. "I asked, is that understood!" within seconds, all the people on the ship were nodding, and saying yes. "Good, now get back to work," Jack said, nodding pleased with himself. Within seconds, everyone was back doing the job they were assigned. Martha ran up to me. " that didn't take long at all." She said, smiling, happy for me. I blushed. "What else can I say? I move fast." I shrugged out of the corner of my eye. I saw Jack smirk. " I'd like to see how fast you can move," he said, causing me to blush even more. Martha giggled and ran back to be with Jacob.
"I can definitely say that's not how I expected it to go at all," I said, finally looking at Jack. "Well, be prepared for the unexpected love. Everything about me is in the spur of the moment. I do what I want, what I want." "Good, because I am the same way. So where are we off to Captain?" I asked as Jack pulled out his compass. He smiled as it settled on me. "I'm not entirely sure. I seem to have everything I want." he stepped away and tried again, and this time, it pointed in the direction of the blood moon cavern. "That's where we're headed," he said. The ship was already headed in that direction, so we walked to the railing. And leaned against it. In that moment, and finally hit me, I was in a relationship with a pirate captain, and had the possibility of living life on the sea for as long as I wanted. I couldn't help but smile and, for the first time, was genuinely excited about what was about to come.
