DEAD TERRITORY

5 - Freedom

"What is up with you, Colton?!" Seven asks standing across from Colton in the living room when Logan and Charlie enters.
"You get to have your brother back and what do I get?! The world is coming to an end and I'm the first one to lose! I'm just facing facts and I want you to do the same. You CAN'T Save The Fucking Planet!" he says strictly pushing each word
"I'm not trying to save the fucking planet!" Seven yells back at him. Charlie tilts his head back a little and looks at Colton warningly.
"What's going on here?" Logan asks turning to Kevin.
"Colton is flipping his shit" Kevin says quietly.
"Flipping my shit?! I SHOT THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!!" Colton yells at Kevin. Kevin stands still not taking the drama.
"And that sounds like a you problem" he says in a sigh. Colton walks fast toward Kevin and Kevin straightens his back a bit. Logan gets between them and holds Colton back peacefully without touching him.
"Enough, boys!!" she holds up the key in front of their faces. Everybody looks at the key with wide eyes and questioning looks on their faces.
"Where did you find that?" Charlie asks crossing his arms over his chest.
"In the dining room while you were packing the bag. I found this note with it too" she picks up the note from her pocket and holds it up.
"It says there is, what I believe, is a boat in southampton's port by the name of freedom. It's an apocalypse escape. The one who wrote the note is dead and we can take the boat and get out of here." she explains.
"And go where?" Lory asks.
"America has shut down their borders. That has to mean there's at least one safe place there that she virus hasn't reached. There's gotta be some way to get in there with a boat" Felix says and looks at Colton.
"Then we leave" Seven says and goes to the bedroom to get her stuff.

"We're just gonna leave like that?" Kevin asks.
"It seems so yeah" Lee responds and goes back to their bedroom.
"We're gonna go out there to hordes of monsters with only two guns?!" he protests.
"They're not monsters" Lory says and sits down on the couch.
"They're not monsters? Look at them" Kevin looks at Lory.
"I have looked at them" Lory stands up to him before she walks away too. Felix sighs an rolls his eyes at Kevin before he walks through Kevin and Logan to get away.

When they got their stuff they gather in the hallway and get ready to leave.
"And how are we gonna get to the port?" Kevin keeps complaining as they're waiting for everyone to get ready.
"We'll find a car or something. A fucking bus I don't know." Seven says getting tired of him as she sits down on the stair behind her.
"You're so naive, seven." Kevin says and looks down at her. Seven looks back up at Kevin and raises her eyebrows.
"Me?" she asks and places her hand on her chest.
"What about your parents? Do you know where they are? Or what about Adrian?" Kevin asks getting upset with the situation. Charlie raises his head and looks up at Kevin wondering where he's going with that.
"What about Adrian?" Seven asks not looking Kevin in the eyes.
"Your little sadistic ex boyfriend before charlie. Two months ago you were scared of getting out of your own house in case you'd see him and now you'd gladly get out there and face a horde of monsters. Is death not worse than what he did?" Kevin says as he's starting to lose the grip of his temper a little bit. As he's talking Seven's eyes tear up a little bit and she bites her lips to keep from crying.
"What he did was worse than this by far. You weren't there." she says and her voice starts breaking a little. Colton clenches his fist and looks at Kevin as he stands up straight from leaning against the wall.
"Kevin that's enough." Logan says sounding upset with him.
"Me? She wants to go out there!" Kevin points at Seven and she turns her face away from him. Felix sits beside her and only look up at Kevin not quite knowing what to do since he knows Seven usually doesn't want to make things a big deal.
"Which we have to."  Logan says and looks at Kevin standing slightly in front of Seven.
"Am I the only one who remembers the pussy she used to be!?" Kevin says trying to make eyecontact with Seven again.
"KEVIN!!! Careful now..." Felix looks up at Kevin angrily.
"You're 14 what are you gonna do?" Kevin asks and Colton steps up. Charlie looks at Kevin questioning.
"Kevin, shut up! We're gonna go out there and it's gonna be fine." Colton says looking at Kevin.
"If you wanna stay here that's fine by me." Felix says looking up at Kevin through his eyebrows.
"Drop the attitude you little fucking-" Seven stands up and cuts him off.
"I fucking dare you!! Say it!" she yells at him and looks straight into his eyes.
"Okay no one is gonna say anything. Kevin either you come with us or you don't and I suggest you do." Logan says looking at him. Charlie grins a little watching Kevin get turned down by all the rest of them without Charlie having to say anything at all.
"As long as we don't see Adrian I'll be fine I think." Kevin says still looking at Seven and Charlie's grin disappears as he stands up straight and looks at Kevin. He doesn't say anything before all the others stand up to Kevin and speaks against him.
"Oh come on!" Logan walks toward him.
"That's it Kevin!" Felix stands up from the stairs.
"You went too far there." Lee pulls him back a little bit.
"Don't you have any shame!?" Lory yells at him.
"It takes a lot to mess with trauma like that." Logan says all of them speaking at the same time. Charlie walks through the crowd and sucker punches Kevin. Kevin leans against the wall with a cracked lip and looks at Charlie. Everyone goes quiet and looks at him surprised and scared. They all stay quiet for a few seconds looking at Charlie. "Charlie..." Logan says wanting to ask why he did that but before she finishes the sentence Charlie walks out of the house and slams the door shut angrily.
"Can we go now? Have you had enough?" Colton asks and looks at Kevin. Kevin nods and they open the door and go out.
