The Nightmare

I decided to go stay with my aunt. She was the nearest and only relative I could go to. Besides, my dad really trusted and confided so much in her. Appallingly, staying with my aunt was the worst nightmare I had. She treated me like I was trash. She made me lose my self-esteem and pressured me to lie to every visitor that came to the house.

I endured it all until the day I took ill, and she refused to take me to see a doctor or even get me some meds. I was in so much pain and cried bitterly. Fortunately, my brother came to my rescue. He threatened to beat up my aunty, but I pleaded with him not to do such a thing, that she is after all, our blood. He said, how could an aunt be so heartless and wicked? I comforted him that God still has a great plan for us no matter what we go through. He smirked, gave me some money and left. The money was not enough to afford me the opportunity to see a doctor, so I opted for the option of self-medication.

I went to the pharmacy that my dad usually takes my mum to when she needs medication. The lady there quickly recognized me and attended to me. She reminded me how my mom and dad argued about which drug is the right prescription whenever they came to shop. I wanted to cry but I smiled and said me too.
