So here we are, pallet town, the begging of it all...
I start by picking the female option (I'm not a woman I just like her look better) and naming myself Ness because it's what I thought of in the moment and I'm currently playing through earthbound right now, maybe I could even write about it! Of course to fit the theme, my rival is named Lucas, and we both start are lifelong...whatever the opposite of friendship is.
We also meet his grandfather, Proffesor Oak who envites us to his place for a "special surprise."
It sounds shady but really he just asks us to pick a pokemon to start our adventure with, Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur.
It could be the most important decision of the run, and so I blindly choose based on which looks cool which is of course Squirtle, and so I have my starter and give her the best name I could think of...kaboom! I just really like squirtle and is definitely a top 10 pokemon for me, if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone on kanto and myself.
Lucas wants smoke and tries to battle us but we quickly send him back to the orphanage and move on. A few minutes later we collect a package for oak and deliver the poke balls in which we can finally start the journey.
Its all downhill from now.
