With one...minor death on my belt as well as one gym badge I learned a lesson, I've played this game quite a few times so I should be using my game knowledge to play better, like knowing when to grab an antidote or two before going into an area.

I do remember the path ahead to Mt. Moon does have alot of poisoning pokemon so I grab a few antidotes before going, which helped alot.

But then...it was time for the best encounter so far...a nidoran! Now I know a nidoran might not look like much, but this pokemon is a very big encounter since it evolves into nidorina quickly and giving it a moon stone can give us a fully evolved late game monster, before the second gym! Now that we encountered it there's no stopping us now.
Which is what I would say if rattata didnt decide that the moment to land a critical hit (which does double the damage if you don't know) quick attack was in a fight with the best encounter so far.

Like bro, you had ONE job!
Anyway it's time for Mt. Moon, the most tough gauntlet we faced so far. The sheer length and amount of trainers blocking you makes it daunting.

We encounter a zubat that rattata decides to spare and immediately, name it Zina and throw it in the pc storage system (AKA the box) never to be seen again, I mean she's a Zubat, what's it gonna do? While walking through the cave I find a revive, that will be really useful in the challenge where you can't revive pokemon, and a moonstone reminding me of my failures and the electritian scientist with a magnetite.

This guy was nothing to sneeze at, if you actually look at my team, you might notice we have one dude who is good against steel types, which is mankey, but I was worried that thunder shock would make quick work of him so I sent out rattata to weaken him with tail whip but, magnetite managed to land multiple special defence drops and kill rattata with a thundershock.

Mankey came in and cleaned up everything but the damage was already done. We rushed out with squirtle taking the rest of the cave on and is heading to the pokemon center to bury rattata. Another death under our name from bad plays, I really needed to start paying more attention and just thinking more.

But after the death, squirtle decides it's time to step up and evolves into a wartortle becoming the strongest team member with pidgey evolving into Pidgeotto not long after. We also caught a sanshrew on the previous route and name him Sanic.
And as if we haven't been through enough, the entire party almost dies from the fight with Lucas and his gang as well as nugget bridge, luckily no casualties.

Let's uh...get some encounters to lighten the mood shall we?

A guy in a strange outfit offers me to join his "book club" but it seemed a bit shady considering he tried to take me by force and he was dressed like those Rocket guys I ran into in Mt. Moon...eh, I'm not too worried about it.

On the route next to nugget bridge I find a bellsprout that could be very useful for the next gym and then...i encounter an abra on the near route.

Abra evolves into kadabra and alakazam, some amazing pokemon with high base stats and good moveset, only problem is that abra is kind of difficult to catch. You have one turn to throw a ball without weakening it or anything, one chance to get it in a ball and that's it.

I throw the poke ball...

It shakes once...

It shakes twice...

ABRA BREAKS FREE and teleport away!

Man, Im not building the best track record for big encounters.

Its alright, I mean who needs an S tier pokemon in a challenge with as high difficulty as this? N-not me haha...nope!

Its now time for the gym leader misty fight and as I've said before, I've played this game before and if I know anything it's that misty is far from a joke. With staryu to weaken most of your pokemon with recover, and her confusion water pulse spamming starmie, she isn't someone to take lightly. After a bit of grinding I make a basic plan with wartortle spamming bite and bellsprout taking on starmie and the rest of the team weakening her staryu. I also manage to evolve bells prout into weepinbell before the fight.

Wish me luck!..

I start the fight and throw out Sanic by mistake, thinking staryu doesn't have water pulse I keep him in for chip damage but turns out I misremembered and Sanic paid the price, he died.

Damn...well I would say gone but not forgotten but you were here for five minutes, that's rough bud, sorry.

Anyway I send out Mankey to take his place who actually does pretty good with mega kick, a move some random begged me to give mankey a new move, and with Pidgeotto coming in ot take out Staryu things were going good, but then Starmie came out. This was the pokemon that was worried about as they almost killed mankey with a water pulse. I send out weepinbell to paralyze it with stun spore and growth to up my special attack. It was close but after a few vine whips I take out Starmie earning us the victory, beating the hardest fight yet!
