Kenny was on a walk around town, not wanting to go home and speak to his father after just getting into a fight with him earlier.

Kenny's dad was yelling at his little sister, Karen, for no reason, claiming that she ate his food without asking. Kenny stood up for her and said to his dad that no one in the house should have food specifically for them, and that they should all share since everyone there is starving. His dad got even more angry and threw a beer bottle against the wall, storming off. Kenny tiredly decided to take a break from his family for a few minutes, which is why he was on a walk.

It was just annoying to Kenny, he dealt with that almost everyday, and he needed a break from his own issues for once.

As Kenny walked into the park in town, he looked around, finding a free bench to sit at. All of them were taken up by random people, except for one.

Butters sat on a bench, a few bags taking up the spot next to him. He looked like he had been crying, and had dark bruises all over his hands and face. Kenny immediately got worried, and nervously walked up to his friend, going to see what was wrong.

Kenny approached the troubled teen, and looked down at him. "Butters?" Kenny asked. Butters quickly glared up above him, seeing his best friend looming over him. "K-Kenny! Hey!-" Butters greeted, wiping his tears with his sweater sleeve before Kenny could notice.

Kenny's face grew a look of concern, seeing Butters up close now.

"What the hell happened to you, dude?" Kenny questioned. Butters' breath was shaky, and he hesitated responding for a few seconds. "I-I got kicked out..." He looked down to his bruised hands, and started fidgeting with his fingers. "Wha- why??" Kenny seemed confused. "It's uhm...a long story..." Butters looked up at Kenny once again, who was waiting for a better answer. Butters sighed deeply.

"M-my parents uhm...found out I liked boys and well, they didn't take it too well." Butters whispered. "...Shit, I'm so sorry." Kenny felt pitiful. "My dad he...he beat me and called me horrible names. While my mom said I had to go to a conversion camp, b-but I refused and then they told me to pack my things and leave..." Butters had tears dribbling down his cheeks, falling down onto his already soaked sweater. Kenny could feel his stomach twist hearing what his close friend had just went through.

"Holy fuck. Are- are you okay? Well I mean, fuck I just-" Kenny didn't know what to say.

They were silent for a bit, as Butters took a deep breath. "I'm alright." His voice quivered. He was so obviously lying, but Kenny just took his word for it.

Kenny stared down at Butters for a few minutes, feeling horrible for him. "...Do you have anywhere to go?" Kenny asked. Butters slowly shook his head no.

"Then...then come stay with me for a bit." Kenny said. Butters looked up at him. "I know my house is a shit hole, and we don't have much to help support your needs...but it is a roof over your head at least." Kenny explained. Butters' eyes glistened. "Kenny...I-I couldn't possibly...I'd just be another mouth for your family to feed..." Butters mumbled. Kenny shook his head. "Don't worry about that, I'll take care of food for you, I got some money saved up." Butters frowned. "I can't let you do that..." He hushed. "I really don't mind, Butters. As long as you're somewhere safer than your own house." Kenny explained.

Butters could see that Kenny was really concerned for him, and was being truthful about wanting him to be safe. It was an offer he shouldn't pass up, being on the streets of South Park are horrifying. It would be best for Butters to take any kind of shelter.
