Few days later.
As Minji stepped through the threshold of her true parents' home, a mix of emotions washed over her. She looked around the humble home "This is where our new life begins, oppa."
Hyeongseop, her beloved brother, stood by her side, his hand squeezing hers reassuringly 'You're right and I'm sure we'll be okay, now that we have parents to guide and support us ."
They had come a long way, and now they were faced with the opportunity to rebuild the fractured bonds with their parents.
In a cozy cafe, Minji and Hyeongseop were greeted by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ahn, who wore warm smiles that mirrored the love and regret in their eyes.
"We were so powerless at that time and left you in that man's care. I hope you can forgive us." Mrs. Ahn held their hands.
"Past is past, I don't even know the whole incident, I know you did everything so that oppa and I would be safe. We forgive you." Minji glanced at Hyeongseop and gave him a smile.
"She's right, Mom and Dad?" He rubbed the back of his neck and their parents laughed at his cuteness.
Then Minji's heart swelled as they presented an old photograph of her and Hyeongseop as children. Tears welled up in her eyes as memories long forgotten resurfaced, tugging at her heartstrings.
"Im so tiny here." Minji pointed at her baby self. She turned to the next page and saw a fashionista little her "She's slaying every outfit too." She then look at Hyeongseop's childhood photo "What's the matter with this little guy? Glaring at his baby sister."
Mrs. Ahn reached out and gently held Minji's hand, her voice filled with genuine remorse. "Minji, Hyeongseop, we are so sorry for everything. We've missed out on so much, and we deeply regret the pain we caused. We want to make amends and be a family again."
Mr. Ahn nodded, his voice tinged with emotion. "Your mother and I have realized the true value of family. We don't need material possessions or a grand lifestyle. We just want to be together, to love and support each other."
Hyeongseop spoke up, his voice a mixture of hesitancy and hope. "It's not going to be easy, but we want to give this a chance. We want to believe in the possibility of rebuilding our family."
Minji listened intently, her heart torn between caution and a glimmer of hope. She spoke softly, her voice reflecting the battles she had fought. "We've all made mistakes, but I believe in forgiveness and second chances. Let's start anew, one step at a time."
After the emotional meeting, Minji and Hyeongseop bid a tearful farewell to Yoongi, their stepbrother.
"Hyung, you know you're always welcome to our parents' house." Hyeongseop looked at him sadly.
Yoongi gave him a small smile "Its okay. Im okay being alone, and you know that but yeah i would visit your house once in a while." He then look at Minji "Yah! Dont cry, its not like im going to die."
"Dont yah me! Im crying cause im going to miss you." Minji looked away from him as she wiped her tears.
"I will miss my cute brother and sister too!" Yoongi pulled them in a warm hug and both kiss their head.
The bonds they had formed through shared adversity were unbreakable, and they promised to stay in touch, cherishing the memories they had created together.
Entering their parents' home, Minji couldn't help but feel a sense of unfamiliarity. The grandeur that once surrounded her life had faded away, replaced by a simpler, more humble existence.
As she unpacked her belongings, she made a conscious decision to leave behind the trappings of wealth. The branded clothes were replaced with simple, affordable garments—a visual representation of her commitment to a newfound life of simplicity.
In the days that followed, Minji embraced the charm of simplicity, finding beauty in the little things. She reveled in the warmth of family gatherings, laughter filling the air as they shared meals and stories.
Her heart filled with gratitude as she realized that true happiness wasn't defined by material possessions but by the love and connection they shared.
One evening, as they sat around the dinner table, Minji's parents couldn't contain their curiosity any longer. Mr. Ahn leaned forward, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "Minji, tell us about this young man who has captured your heart. What's his name?"
A smile played on Minji's lips as she thought of Jake. She took a deep breath, her eyes shining with joy. "His name is Sim Jaeyun also known as Jake. He's super kind, caring, and supportive. We met during my most difficult times, and he has been a constant source of strength and love."
Mrs. Ahn clapped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. "Oh, your father must meet him! When can I see this wonderful young man again?"
Minji chuckled, feeling a sense of contentment. "Soon, Mom."
Mr. Ahn joined in, his voice filled with anticipation. "Yes, Minji, I'd love to meet him. We want to welcome him into our family and get to know the man who has brought such happiness into your life."
Minji's heart swelled with gratitude as she realized how much her parents had changed.
She never thought she would see the day when they would be open and accepting of her choices. It was a testament to the power of forgiveness and the willingness to grow and change.
A few days later, Minji arranged for Jake to visit her parents' home.
As they waited nervously in the living room, Minji whispered encouraging words to Jake, assuring him that her parents were excited to meet him.
When Jake walked through the front door, he was greeted by warm smiles and outstretched hands. Mr. and Mrs. Ahn enveloped him in a welcoming embrace, instantly putting him at ease.
Mr. Park chuckled, breaking the ice. "Jake, Minji has told us so much about you. It's a pleasure to finally meet the man who has stolen our daughter's heart."
Jake returned the smile, his eyes filled with sincerity. "Thank you, sir. I feel incredibly lucky to have Minji in my life. She's brought so much joy and love into my world."
Mrs. Ahn ushered everyone to the living room, her excitement palpable. "Please, let's all sit and get to know each other better. We've missed out on so much, but we're determined to make up for lost time."
As they settled into the cozy living room, conversations flowed freely. Minji's parents asked Jake about his family, his aspirations, and his interests. They listened intently, genuinely interested in getting to know the man who had become an integral part of their daughter's life.
Jake, too, was eager to learn more about Minji's parents. He asked about their experiences, their hobbies, and the lessons they had learned along the way. They shared stories, memories, and laughter, gradually building a connection that felt both new and familiar.
As the evening progressed, the initial apprehension melted away, replaced by a sense of belonging. Minji looked around the room, her heart swelling with gratitude. She saw her parents and Jake engaging in conversation, their smiles genuine and their laughter contagious.
In that moment, Minji realized that their journey towards embracing simplicity and reuniting with family had been worth every step. They had come together, acknowledging their mistakes, forgiving one another, and choosing love over resentment.
