Chapter 21 - That's Love

The following day Buck was nonstop going on about how he hated being Buck 1.0 and didn't want to be that guy anymore. The whole way to their first scene of the day he was chewing everyone's ear off about it, El tuning out because she couldn't be bothered to listen to it, it was agitating her more than she would like to admit.

They arrived on scene at the gas station. El couldn't help but overhear what Buck was saying to Bobby, going to his father figure for advice. "I'm single for like, a day and I'm right back at it?" Buck spoke in a frustrated manner.

"Well Buck, you've been single for months" Bobby rebutted before walking ahead.

"Why does everybody keep saying that?" Buck spoke, standing in his tracks, watching in disbelief as Bobby walked off.

"Probably because it's true Buckeroo" El patted him on the back before readjusting her medkit and walking inside.

"What have we got?" Bobby said, making his way in with the rest of the team.

"Bonnie and Clyde meets dumb and dumber." Athena said, rolling her eyes.

"He seems fine. Pupils have dilated , he's definitely high on something." Eddie said as he worked on the male suspect.

"Well, I'll try to detain my shock." Mikey scoffed, writing in his notepad anything the paramedics found on the guy. "Get him outta here." He ordered a few other officers.

"Be strong baby bear." The man called out to the female suspect.

They hauled him out of there in a hurry and Mikey walked over to the woman who was now placed on a gurney.

"Not your baby bear , jack ass! Men are the worst, right?"

"You're asking the wrong girl." Hen said, shaking her head which made El laugh slightly.

"I really like her, you know and not just 'cause she's a redhead but now if I do want to call and you know, ask her out, she's gonna think I'm only after one thing" Buck spoke.

"You are only after one thing. Jerk" The women in the gurnary sassed.

"You don't even know me" Buck clapped back.

"You're a man, I know enough" She resorted as Hen and El rolled her out to the ambulance, El laughing as she did so.

El was left alone that night seeing as Mikey had another night with Maddie at her new apartment. She didn't mind too much seeing as she was used to being alone for the last 7 years however it was weird when Mikey wasn't around anymore, she had gotten so used to his chaotic yet comforting company.

She spent her evening working on the paperwork for the various properties that she owned over in Florida while also looking for another place to buy, seeing as Mikey living with her was becoming a more permanent solution so getting a house would be more preferable.

She bookmarked a few properties but none were really calling out to her personally; however they seemed like good investments. El's eyes began to close as she stared at her laptop, soon enough exhaustion took over and she fell asleep on the couch, laptop still open.

Mikey returned home after his evening with Maddie and Buck to find El fast asleep on the couch, soft snores escaping her lips. He quietly made his way over to her and moved the laptop onto the coffee table before picking her up, carrying her to her bed; El not even stirring.

After tucking her in and giving her a soft platonic kiss on the forehead, Mikey made his way back down to his makeshift bed, however he couldn't help but see that she was looking at properties on her laptop, the price range varied from $500'000 all the way to $2 million. Mikey raised a brow curiously, having a little nose before getting completely bored, there were too many words and numbers for his little brain to handle. He closed her laptop before switching on the TV and putting on some DazGames while he drifted off to sleep.
