Chapter 5: Study Them

November, 2017

Unnamed Pacific Island

Top Secret, Janjira Monarch Facility Memo: Godzilla proved that his power is far greater than Monarch projections ever guessed. With a single blast from his nuclear ability, Titanosaurus was transformed into a pile of radioactive ash, not even bone was left over. Resources are being devoted to a study of the monster and his capabilities, assuming the MUTO, Mothra can convince him to cooperate. It is currently Monarch's top priority to determine just how powerful Godzilla is.

"Goji..." Mothra sighs, looking at the smoldering ash that was once the last known member of the Titanosaurus species.

"He attacked me first." Gojira replies, "I tried to reason with him, but he wouldn't listen."

"He insulted you, and you became angry."

"I...he..." Godzilla stutters, "I may have been a bit mad with him, but I did try to talk to him, I don't understand why he was so intent on fighting me. After my species hunted his for so long, you would assume he'd know my strength, prey does not usually attack predator if it has any common sense."

"I understand, and yes, it is very odd that he attacked without any clear provocation, what's even more odd is why he came here, to Janjira, that simply cannot be a coincidence." Mothra seems puzzled and after thinking for a few moments a helicopter flies overhead and lands on the top of a nearby skyscraper.

"That would be Doctor Serizawa Goji. He probably wishes to speak with us."

"You want me to come?" Gojira asks.

"You've never actually met him, come, he has questions for you I'm sure."

Godzilla follows the moth diligently as she floats gracefully toward the tower that Serizawa waits on. He clears the distance in only a few short strides and is soon face-to-face with the Doctor, he is fairly certain that this is closest he's ever been to one of the humans and so he makes sure not to breath too hard, lest he blow them off the roof. Mothra lands on his back and speaks.

"Hello Doctor, it is good to see you again." She says lightly.

"Yes, hello to both of you." Serizawa bows to the pair of MUTOs.

"You wish to run tests on Gojira correct? Obviously you're curious about Titanosaurus too, but that is not your primary purpose of speaking to us today." Mothra asks.

"Can't hide anything from you, can we? Yes, we do, can you..."

Mothra interrupts him, "I will translate directly for you so that you may speak to him yourself. My psychic abilities are good for more than just eavesdropping." She smiles.

"Very well," Serizawa clears his throat.

Mothra chirps to Godzilla briefly before he nods and looks at Serizawa.

"Well, uh, it is a pleasure to finally speak with you Gojira." The Doctor squeezes out.

"Hmm," the creature replies, "What is it you want from me?" he says coldly.

Mothra makes a series of clicking noises at Gojira, he sighs and turns back to the Doctor.

"It is good to meet you as well Doctor Serizawa, how can I assist you?"

Serizawa stands up straighter, "Well, Gojira, I must say all of us at Monarch were quite impressed by the power you displayed and we were simply wondering if we could run a couple of tests...as you can imagine we are very curious about you."

Godzilla pauses and gives a stern look to Mothra, but she returns the gesture with one of her own and he turns back to human.

"Why?" He says simply.
