Godzilla Against All: Part 1

Chapter 6: Contact

November, 2017

Costa Rica, Central America

Godzilla and Mothra arrive back on the surface after allowing themselves to be studied in at the underground Monarch facility in Central America. Godzilla stretches when they do, clearly happy to have returned to the freedom of the open air.

"That wasn't so bad now was it?" Mothra asks.

"I suppose not but..." Gojira begins to speak, however he stops when he sees Doctor Serizawa standing on the roof of the small building nearby.

Mothra crawls over to the Doctor. "I trust we didn't overstep our boundaries down there?" He asks.

"Not at all," Mothra replies, "You've shown to me that you are quite trustworthy."

Godzilla gives the moth a surprised and questioning glance. "Do not worry, she says to him secretly through their psychic connection. "They are indeed still hiding something from us, I will fill you in later." She then switches back to speaking aloud. "I think we could both benefit from more cooperation, don't you agree?"

"Certainly," Ishiro replies, "What did you have in mind?"

"I would like to form a psychic link with you." The Doctor and Godzilla share the same astonished look. "You lead Monarch, so it would only make sense for you to gain some quick and easy method to contact us if we are ever needed don't you think?"

"W..." Serizawa stammers, "With me? A link, like what you use to communicate over long distances with?"

"Is this not something you want?"

"Oh. No. That's not it at all!" The Doctor blurts out. "I'm just, I didn't expect it. Of course I'd be honored. There is no way I could pass up a scientific opportunity like this." He pauses for moment, thinking, "Are there risks? I mean, what does the process actually entail?"

"The process is simple and risk free." Mothra replies, "It requires little effort on your part, just basic physical contact, and I can create the link."

"Very well..." Serizawa starts, but is interrupted when a young assistant approaches from behind him.

"Um, Doctor?" She says, "Are you sure this is a good idea, we've never done any studies on this psychic link after all, maybe we should..."

Ishiro sighs, "What is the American saying, 'Sometimes you have to run before you can walk?' I won't let this amazing opportunity for Monarch slip away."

"I think that quote is from a comic book movie sir..."

"No matter!" Serizawa looks at Mothra, "I'll do it."

Mothra takes a step closer, her head only a few feet from the building's edge. "I'm glad, place your hand on my head and I will begin."

Serizawa extends his arm toward the enormous insect and places his hand on her head, between her massive, blue, compound eyes.

For a moment, an unfiltered bridge between the two minds is created, in only a few moments, Mothra channels psychic energy across the bridge and into the head of Ishiro Serizawa. She attempts to use the brief period of free access to his mind in order to search for whatever it was he and Monarch were hiding from her but the connection is too brief, and she is pushed out of his mind before she can gain a full picture.

"That's all?" The Doctor asks.

"It is complete." Mothra says through the newly established link. "You are now one of...I believe four humans, to ever psychically link with me. At first, it will require intense concentration to send thoughts to me, but in time it will become as easy as speaking itself."
