Now for your questions. I hear Collin's voice in my head, he's shifting on his rock so he can look at me better.
Wow. I think. I can't help but like him more and more.
Thank you. I like you too, a lot actually. He says politely.
Omg! You heard that? I ask, blushing from embarrassment.
Every word. He smiles. I face palm myself. Stupid, stupid, stupid!
Any who. Now back to my questions. I say changing the topic. Am I ever gonna see my friends again? I ask, sadness overpowering my thoughts.
There are only two ways, turn them, like I did you. Or you could give them the element of limitless breath. Which means they can breath anywhere anytime. He says. I put my index fingure up to my mouth and gentley bite on it.
Which hurts worse? I ask.
The limitless breath of course because it changes your lungs but it also has a quicker recovery time. He answers.
I can't do either of those to them. They mean to much to me! There has to be another way! I yell. He doesn't respond for a second.
There is one way... hug of mership. It transforms any human into a merperson if they mean everything to a mermaid or merman. My eyes light with hope. I grab hold of his hand tightly and drag him to the surface.
"You're a genious!" I yell wrapping him into a long bear hug.
"Not really." He whispers. "I'm only there for you." He hugs me tighter.
"You are." I say pulling away. He smiles a big smile at me and I smile back. "Tell me how to bring them here, like you did to me!" I say excitedly.
"First off, its dark. They're sleeping so you're gonna have to connect to their dreams." He says, putting his right hand over my forehead and left over my eyes. I instantly fall to sleep in his arms.
"Kena!" They squeal seeing me in the water.
"Come to me. At the beach we collected shells at. In the morning, I'll meet you there." I say as they run over to me.
"Why, Kena?" Abriella asks.
"I'll explain when you get here. Don't forget it!" I yell as I come to. I wake up and I'm silently crying.
"What's wrong, Kena? Are you ok? I swear I thought you were dead until you started crying!" He says rubbing the tears from my cheek.
"No!" I sniff. "I-I lost them!" I cry harder. He pulls me in closer.
"Shhh. Its ok. Shhh." He soothes. "How about we go meet them?" He says looking down at me.
"R-really? Now? W-what about food? W-what about Narina?" I ask looking back up at him.
"Yes now. Forget about the other things, all I need now is for you to be happy." He gives a small smile and pecks my forehead.
"Alright." I say. He grabs a piece of kelp from the sand and ties it around my hands. "Hey! Why are you tieing me up?"
"Your mine, I can't loose you." He says softly. He finishes off tieing the kelp and we start swimming. As we pass coral reefs I can hear the waves crash and see the perfect shells scattered everywhere. The shells range from big to ant sized, white to indigo, round to funky.
"I miss this." I say.
"Miss what?"
"Swimming in the deep on bright, sunny days!" I say, giving a laugh. It's silent the rest of the swim. I pop my head above water to see if they've arrived yet. Nope. I slip back under.
Change me. I tell him and he obediently nods. I see his eyes flicker to my tail then my lips. I roll my eyes and nod.
