Amy backed away. "What?" Her voice was really nervous but she somehow kept it straight and calm. "Do you... Know me? Have I met you befor-?" Sonic's hand was raised in front of Amy - enough for her to see.
"Calm down Ames. What I meant was that chaos emerald you holding" Silence... Silence took in the whole room. Amy stopped overthinking about what she really heard and shaken herself. "But I swore I heard yo-" Amy was again cut off, as Sonic put his hands on her shoulders, "Amy. You know, it's really unimportant" Sonic tried his best - wishing she'll set that 'wrong' sayings aside.
Amy sighed. She's not deaf, she heard it but, maybe this is the best thing; she'll stop overthinking and forgot what she heard. There are definitely more things to think than that you know.
"You guys needed to inspect the emerald, right?" She finally said and felt like somehow forever. "Yes. Can I see it?" Tails stepped in between them, "Yes you can but, this necklace can't be unlatch. And I have never unlatch it since it latches in my neck" Amy said, and she looks disappointed. "You can't unlatch it? Let me try" Sonic was now on her back, he tried to unlock it and yet nothing clicks. "Did you?" Amy asked, feeling numb in her neck.
"Nope. Not yet" Sonic didn't stop and continues to unlock the latch.
Moments pasted by, and still no progress. "I give up!!" Sonic plopped down the floor. "Well, how will you inspect it then Tails?" Amy asked, "You need to lay down and will let my machine do the inspection." The fox pulled out his somewhat laser kind invention, "BEHOLD! Inspector 099! This thing can inspect things and their origins, and what source of power they hold, if they have. And as the machine inspects, it was connected to my PC and it will start to load information."
Amy herself was assisted by Sonic as she lie down the tabletop. Tails positioned the Inspector 099 beside the table, "Just raised your head a little" The fox reminded. The machine starts to inspect the chaos emerald and they have confirmed - it was an emerald!
Tails stopped the machine and got to his PC and started to print the information they needed. "Well it says here that... It was a chaos emerald 'before'" Sonic jolted as he heard it, "What do you mean before?" "Let me finish first Sonic" Tails shaked his head and focused on the paper. "It was from an abandoned village called... Oh, the name was unknown" Amy was still on the tabletop, listening.
Tails passed the paper to Amy; who tooked it with no hesitation. She carefully read the information.
INFORMATION:
TYPE: CHAOS EMERALD (old specimen)
POWER: UNKNOWN
ORIGIN: ABANDONED VILLAGE (UNKNOWN)
ABILITIES (TO THE HOST): UNKNOWN
"Well, it seems that the chaos emerald's history is far beyond my machine's reach. I'll try to gather some research about it." Tails assured and turned off the machine.
"Well, that should do it. Now that we are completely aware that you hold a chaos emerald, you should really stay here for a while" Sonic said, and Amy nodded in agreement. "I should drop by at my house and let Cream and Mrs. Vanilla know about this so they can check my house for a while" Amy stood on the ground and starts to leave. "Wait, Amy" Sonic followed her down the hall to the door. Amy turned around, "Hmm?" "Nothing. Heh, just saying take care." And he smiled, that send Amy butteflies and she felt a tingly feeling across her cheeks. "Erm... Okay, I will. I'll be back in a minute."
The two bid goodbyes and Amy started to walk down the road, cautious at every step she's taking. Her walks started to pace. She can tell she's really nervous. That scythe wielder can be near anywhere she was right now but somehow she made it safely to her house with a big relief.
She saw that Mrs. Vanilla and Cream are already at her house, having a small movie marathon. "Miss Amy!!" Cream nearly spill the whole bowl of popcorn she's holding. Hopefully, Mrs. Vanilla caught it and placed it on the coffee table as Cream ran towards Amy - giving her a small hug.
"Hi Cream! What are you guys watching?" Amy asked and followed the rabbit to the sofa and sat down. "Just watching the new Barbie Movie" Cream casually said, "Wanna join Amy dear?" Mrs. Vanilla offered, "No. I, actually can't" Amy sighed, she glanced to Cream who is disappointed on what she just heard. "I'm actually staying at my friend's. For only a week" and smiled nervously, hoping Mrs. Vanilla will let her. "Are you sure only at your friends?" Mrs. Vanilla questioned, "OF COURSE! So, can you guys look for this house for a while?"
A long pause - Mrs. Vanilla seems to be worried on why Amy will be staying at her friend's, she had a house! Then why would she-
"Umm... Miss. Narrator?" Cream asked, "Yes darling? Hey! You shouldn't talk to me here okay? Go on to your place!" "I wanna ask, why Miss. Amy is leaving?" "Well I can't tell you yet dear, just go back to your place" "Okay"
Where was I? ...Oh, right.
A few moments of rethinking of their decisions, Mrs. Vanilla finally let Amy stay at her Friends for a while - after all, Amy needs to wind off a little and to do that, she should have fun with her friends.
"Be safe okay?" Mrs. Vanilla said as she handed Amy's bag. "Yes, I will be. I need to go" Amy got out of the door and bid their farewells at each other.
When she shifted her sight out of the door - at a near pole, someone is waiting. She hesitated to approach until a familiar face showed up. "Hey Ames! What got you so long?" Sonic asked, "Well, just a small talk with Mrs. Vanilla. You how stubborn someone who cares about you" Amy laughed, and shook her head, "Yeah, I once knew that feeling..."
The wind was blowing - soft, cold, misty air was felt. The moon is up in the dark sky, shining through the clouds that covered it. To Amy, it felt like a dream. Dream she wished she won't be bothered to be awakened.
Sonic glanced at the rustling leaves of the trees - he never felt the world this calm ever since he had encountered Eggman almost everyday at Green Hills. He had so many time to embrace the beauty of his surrounding and just to waste that time for fighting.
The two hedgehogs decided not to chat, it was a long walk, indeed but, they don't have any topics to throw off until they got into their destination. Sonic and Tails had given Amy a nice sleeping spot in their cozy little bedroom.
"Well... Thanks" Amy started, "What for?" Sonic's really confused about the thanking. "We just met a week ago and you still decided to let me stay" Amy smiled and positioned herself on the bed. "Heh, that's nothing you know" small tint of blush appears to Sonic's cheeks - he felt flattered. "That's what heroes do" They laughed.
Maybe things will be fine between them. It seems that they're pretty fine with each other even though it's only a week since their meet up.
Tomorrow. Another day, another challenge. The protagonists need to rest for a new character appearance. Will they be a new ally? Or a new nemesis?
Better to find out.
