“Damn it Kiyoomi.” I hissed. I had just got up with numb legs now this?! “You done in there yet, do you want us to be late?” Kiyoomi’s annoyed voice came through the door. “Shut up you mosquito!” I shouted. “I’m gonna kill you for leaving these hickeys on me.” We were going to get my ultrasound today. Kiyoomi and I argued about whether it would be a boy or a girl for the first few weeks and made a bet. He even stated, ‘The kid’s gonna look exactly like me and it’s gonna be a girl, trust me.’ Boy was he gonna eat his words up when he finds out it’s gonna be a boy! I smiled walking out of the bedroom fully dressed. “Took you long enough.” He grumbled. I ignored him walking over to the fridge. “We’ve got to go Shirai, you just ate.” He sighed again. "I'm eating for two now you know." I groaned following him. “Kiyoomi, don’t forget what you owe me when you find out it’s a boy.” I teased as we drove off. “It’s gonna be a girl and I hope you don’t forget what you owe me.” He argued back. And so it went as we chatted on our way to the hospital.

“Congratulations, it’s going to be a girl!” These words sent a shiver up my spine. “Are you sure? Don’t you think you should check again?” I questioned as I saw Kiyoomi’s ‘I knew it’ face. “Nope, I’m very sure, take a look yourself.” I looked at the scan again and groaned in defeat. “Alright, let’s go Kiyoomi.” This didn’t go as I wanted it to, now I have to wear it.

“K-Kiyoomi, could you maybe re-” “I’m not going back on what I said, you have four months.” “You’re so annoying you know.” I grumbled glaring at him with a pout on my lips. The whole drive to the grocery store was quiet. Kiyoomi and I split up as he went to get the food as I went to get toiletries and cleaning supplies. “Hmm, I need baby powder, and shampoo.” I thought as I walked down the aisle looking for them. “Excuse me lady,” a man approached me, “do you know where the dog food is found?” I came face to face with a green eyed man with long jet black hair that passed his shoulders. “Dog food?” I questioned. “I think it’s about two aisles to the left of this one.” I gave a friendly smile as I looked over to the shampoos. “What’s your name?” The guy was still there standing near me just a tad too close. I looked at the man confused. “I’m Senji Mitokawa, twenty-two.” He smiled offering his hand. “Shirai Shio.” I replied, trying to pick between the lavender and orange scented bodywash. “So, are you a single parent?” Mitokawa asked. I now recognised his true motive and my eye twitched. “No, could you give me some space?” I spoke agitated. “Oh sorry, could I have your number?” Was this guy oblivious or just stupid?! Can’t he take a hint. “I’m sorry but I should get going.” I plopped the body wash and shampoo into the basket quickly striding away to a next aisle. I could see that he still followed me at the corner of my eye. I quickly went to the frozen section where Kiyoomi would be.
