Chapter 40: Crazy LoveEltan Storm
A year has gone by since Faith and I moved to New York—a year of us living together. To say it was an understatement; it was bliss.
"Where are you right now?" I asked over the phone. "Weren't you supposed to have dinner with Mrs. Martin?"
"I was having dinner with Anna, but then, duty called, so I rushed over. I have to hang up now. I'm busy."
"Which duty—" Before I could ask, she cut the call.
I let out an annoyed sigh.
It was ten at night. It could be either of the duties since she maintained two jobs—one as the manager of the second branch of Berserkers, and the second as the queen of the Mafia Thunder.
Faith was hesitant to accept being the manager, saying she was underqualified and such stuff, but I managed to convince her that there could be no one more diligent than her to manage it. As for Mutiny, she jumped at the idea of being my partner.
I wasn't exactly thrilled to put her in the line of danger, but she wanted it for herself. She wanted to help me. Plus, she proved to me that she was more than capable of protecting herself and our gang.
The personalities of Faith and Mutiny were still far from becoming one, but Dr. Martin already told me in the beginning that it was going to take years to get to that stage.
But I was fine either way. I loved both sides of her.
Nevertheless, they had better control of each other now, deciding when to switch and not, which was really less stressful for the two of them.
Coming back to the issue at hand, I was returning home from an important mission and called Faith to know when she was going to be home from her dinner party but she rather told me she was in the car. She didn't tell me where she was going, though.
"Sir, where do you want to go?" asked the driver.
"Let me see." I checked Faith's location on my app; we had that installed for safety reasons. "Take me to the harbor."
What the hell was she doing at the harbor this late without telling me?
After half an hour, we reached the dockside and I got out of the car.
I was greeted by Denver who updated me on the situation.
"Some of our men got into a fight with the members of another gang, so Mutiny came to check as soon as she received the call since no one wanted to bother you while you were out of town," he informed.
"Okay. What else?"
"I don't know, either. I just got here too."
"I will have to find out for myself then."
I reached the scene of action where Mutiny was sitting on top of a guy and punching his already bloodied face with a psychotic look on her face. There were five bodies around her. I wasn't surprised at the sight, though. Especially not after hearing what she was raging on about.
"How dare you insult my Eltan?"
Yeah, that was something you strictly should not do in front of Mutiny. She would just end their lives without hesitation. Just like I would do the same for her.
"Mutiny, he's dead already," I called out, and she paused in between her punches.
She raised her head and snapped her neck in my direction. A huge grin bloomed on her face.
