__________ ♡__________Patience is a virtue. However when it comes to the sorting ceremony, patience is non existent. Who in their right mind would find it fun to watch every first year student be sorted into their house? Certainly not Carina.
The rest of the Slytherin table held the same views as she did. Only a small portion of students were actually sorted into the house of snakes, and those that were would soon realise the cons that came with it. The hateful glares from Gryffindors, the favouritism to Gryffindors. Gryffindors in general actually.
Some tried to pass the time by betting on who would be in which house, but after five years it became tiresome. Carina and Elodie tended to spend their time gossiping about everyone and everything. For example, the Hufflepuff girl who was clearly high on some drug, the young Ravenclaw with an affinity for strange jewellery, and the new professor seated at the head table.
"Do you think he's teaching defence?"
Elodie questioned the girl next to her. Carina nodded strongly. "Definitely, I hope he's better than the last one."
Both girls grimaced remembering the pathetic man from the previous year. Anybody would be a step up from him. Carina looked up to the table where they were all sat.
"Professor Snape doesn't look pleased."
The man in question held a very noticeable scowl and was leaning away from the new man, as if he didn't want to be there. "He's probably pissed he didn't get the position."
The Malfoy girl chuckled, a gentle grin appearing.
"He'd have to imperio Dumbledore to get it."A younger girl slightly further down the Slytherin table rose her head at this, hearing the comment and decided to interrupt. "If Dumbledore gave Snape the position we'd all be torturing each other within days."
Elodie and Carina stared blankly at her before speaking in sync.
"Shut up Esther." "Fuck off Esther."__________ ♡__________
"As you are aware the role of Head Girl is of upmost importance. You will be in charge of the Slytherin prefects and ensuring that they do their assigned tasks. If they do not you have an obligation to report them to me."
Carina sat opposite Professor Snape in his office. The room itself was cloaked in shadows, the few windows the main source of light. It reminded her eerily of her father's study. Dark and uninviting. A significant difference however was the abundance of potions lined up on shelves. Her father never was one for potions.
"Along with studying for the Newts, participating in Quidditch matches and going to duelling club this will add a considerable amount of work to your schedule."
Hearing it out loud really did put it into perspective. She would be incredibly busy and no doubt very stressed. Her social life would decrease. It would mean losing precious hours of sleep to revise, to train, or to patrol the castle. She would be utterly exhausted.
"Can you manage all of this, Miss Malfoy?"
Her parents told her to do it however. And what they say goes so it wasn't like she would decline. With luck it would make them momentarily happy and keep them out of her business.
"Without any issues, Professor."
