We ended up being almost 2 hours late, completely missing first period. Zach and I scrambled to the administration office and quickly explained the situation. The lady, Mrs. Johnson, didn't look very pleased, especially when I told her how I only just met Zach yet stepped into his car. She waved it off and checked all my papers. I grabbed my schedule and combination code and started towards the door, Zach already waiting outside.
"Thank you so much, bye now," I waved.
Before I closed the door, Mrs. Johnson muttered, "Becareful."
I paused, leaving the door ajar, then pushed it wide open. "Excuse me?"
She shuffled her papers and looked me dead in the eye with her cold blue eyes, nothing like Zach's. "Don't trust someone so easily, Miss Cullen. You're only hurting yourself."
I frowned, wondering why she was saying these things. I wanted to tell her that she was wrong, Zach and I'm sure a lot of other people were almost as friendly. I could trust someone. But I didn't. I couldn't bring myself to stare her down. "Yes, ma'am," was all I could respond.
She smiled at her victory, probably not her first, and watched me walk to Zach. The suspense killed me as I turned back, but she was nowhere to be seen.

"What did Lyndon B. want?" Zach groaned. I didn't reply right away, and I'm guessing it startled him. "She lectured you on hanging out with me, didn't she."
"You hit the nail on the head," I murmured.
Zach didn't say anything, neither did I. Sighing deeply, he headed down the long hallway before saying, "C'mon, let's go see you to your locker, Cullen."
Attempted a smile but utterly failed. "Ok!" I ran a little to catch up with him. Then I pulled out his books from my bag. "You should probably take these, already."
He faked a smile and gingerly grabbed them. "Not like I'm gonna use these books."
"Why not? Don't you have chemistry next period?"
He nodded but grinned wickedly. "I never said I was going to attend that class. Chemistry sucks."
"You're skipping classes?!"
"I've been doing that the past weeks, darling."
I pondered. I didn't take Zach as the badass that ditched school. He seemed really nice, caring, and highly smart. Then Mrs. Johnson popped in my head. "Is that why 'Lyndon B.' said to stay away from you?"
He nodded, cracking his knuckles. "Yeah, she thinks I scare the innocence out of girls like you."
For some reason the remark hurt. I could feel my face burn red hot with embarrassment. I wasn't no damn goody-two-shoes. "Yeah, well, I guess she is wrong," I joked, though I knew it was false as soon as it left my lips. "You don't even know the half of me."
Zach shrugged. "Eh, I guess you're right." Then he smiled at me, his perfect damn smile. "That's why I want to get to know you better."
I blinked in surprise. He wanted to get to know me? I smiled, then noticed he was trying not to laugh. I frowned. He's teasing me! "I thought you were being serious," I snapped, grabbing his shirt collar angrily. I stared him dead, just like Mrs. Johnson.
It was a little awkward since he was a few inches taller, but I wasn't going to back down. "Apologise, damnit!" But for a terrifying moment, he moved closer. "You're hopeless!" I hissed. I threw him back and straightened my skirt, dusting myself off.
